Re: .

  • Don't worry about it. If she is a runner than she is used to races and how they affect her body. Plus, if she's already signed up than she's probably already paid, and if she says she can make it to your wedding on time and ready to go than I would let her make that decision, she knows her body and its limits better than you do!
  • Well - it's not her job to help you. Trust your friend that if she says she can make it there, she can make it there. This is not something to get overly worked up about.

She could be sick on the day of your wedding and not be up for dancing or fun...

  • My experience with runners is that their condition can vary dramatically after a race depending on a lot of factors.  Races are also generally in the morning and assuming your wedding is in the evening she will probably have a few hours to recover.  My advice is to just let it go and let her make a choice about what is best for her. You have no control over it so it is not worth stressing over.

This.  I'm a marathoner and just wanted to say don't stress.  She definitely knows her body and if the race is feasible the same day as your wedding.  And like another poster said, if your wedding is late enough and the race is early, it shouldn't be an issue at all.  If you have super-early morning plans like breakfast or hair appointments, you might want to tell her soon so she can either try to defer her entry (if that's possible) or plan around it, or opt out of being in the BP.

  • After my first half, I ate a burger, chugged a beer and had a good day. It was the day AFTER I felt like crap. No worries OP.

  • I'm curious - how do your bridesmaids have to "be fun" the day of your wedding?
  • Wow, the TK equivalent of the Bat Signal.

I have a friend who ran the Boston marathon a few years back. After the race, we went to an early dinner and bar hopped. She was jazzed up all night. I would worry less about your friend's condition after the race and more on your expectations to all your BMs.

  • People with bad hangovers from the rehersal dinner are in MUCH worse shape than people who run 13 miles, and you're not going to monitor alcohol intake.

ditto PPs, don't sweat it. DO be concerned about what this means for traffic, hotels, etc.
