in Wedding Woes

BIL is boycotting Christmas with his sister and us at their mom's (local to him).  Instead he is packing up his family and driving an hour here to exchange gifts.  They'll be here at 6:30 and "how about we have dinner?  Except I'll eat at home so it will just be wife and kids."  Huh?  I have to feed your family?  The original offer to do something on a different day was to do something or get reservations.  It wasn't supposed to be to host his family.  Even if we just order pizza I know we're buying.  Not to mention my kids are in bed at 8 so it's going to be a short visit.

He has undiagnosed bowel issues so is weird about food.  Those issues are undiagnosed because he's never been to a doctor.

    They could pick up dinner on the way for the wife and kids. I don't think that idea crossed their minds. Find a pizza coupon and try not to stress yourself, or better yet, warm up those leftovers you were probably going to eat anyway.:)

    Put their food in "to-go" bags and tell them they missed dinner. 

    Also pre-open their gifts (don't wrap them).

    SIL announced when she would be coming to town.  I grumbled because it was when I wanted to do a party, but moved on and said, "let's make that family Christmas!" nurse SIL got pissed that she wasn't asked and had to work.  BIL stopped speaking to his stepsister and is now boycotting.

    Of course I found out at Thanksgiving that it was just the rotation that nurse would normally be working.  She had time to request a switch but chose not to- I don't fault her for this.  She also doesn't actually have a schedule yet so she's created oodles of drama on an assumption.  Oh, and the shift she'd be working is 11p-7a Sat and off Sun.  It's not ideal, but she COULD make it even if she is working.

    I know DH already hates the hurt feelings and drama around holidays so I'd never actually say anything to him.  I'll make a salad and some sort of dessert and call it quits.

    get a cheese and cracker plate from the grocery store as well as a veggie and dip one, tell him ill have you over for light applitizers but can you bring a desert if he gets mad hey its your house your rules
