Traditional veil, birdcage veil or no veil? Champagne dress

This is obviously a completely personal question, but I'm wondering how others have decided. Things I'm considering in making my decision: venue and level of formality, overall look (i.e. how it will fit with jewelry and a coat - we're having a winter wedding in a city that snows), and personal style (not sure I'll pull off a birdcage veil).

I'm also wondering how it will look with my dress given it isn't white (it's champagne colour). Any thoughts on how to wear a veil with a non-white dress?

Re: Traditional veil, birdcage veil or no veil? Champagne dress

  •  I had a lace allure gown with a cafe underlay and ivory overlay (definitely NOT white) and I struggled to decide what to do with my hair and accessories. I ended up deciding to just do silk flowers pinned into my updo.

  • I think that a champagne dress would look fine with any type of veil as long as the colour of the veil went with the dress.  The style of veil, I think, depends more on what the style of dress is.

  • If you decide you want a long veil, several places make champagne veils: http://www.bhldn.com/shop-the-bride-veils-headpieces/

I think a birdcage would look good, but it's hard to say without seeing the dress
  • I don't have a picture of the dress (ended up buying used). It's made of raw silk, has some rushing in the bodice, trumpet shape, and sweetheart neckline. It has a train (chapel).  I think it could be accessorized for a traditional and classic look, a stylish urban look, or even a vintage look.

I'm leaning towards the following in terms of accessories: statement drop earrings, hair curled and then put in a chignon (textured but not loose), grey-brown fur coat… I'm also thinking of a chunky bracelet.

  • I had a champagne colored dress and went with an ivory colored veil.
  • I had a gold dress and decided last minute to wear a veil. I went to Michaels and got some champagne/gold tulle and sewed it onto a little comb. It sounds like a veil would look great with your dress, but without seeing it it is hard to say.

If you want to see a pic of my colored veil, PM me. For some reason I can't attach pictures.
  • A birdcage veil would be so amazing and have such vintage charm for a winter wedding. Go for it. :)
