Boob help :)

Strapless dress. Sweetheart neckline. Need the girls up and at em.

Strapless bras just don't do it for me. I'm a size 12, C cup and they never do what a bra with straps can.

Anyone have a great trick? Amazing bra? Or am I going to have to use tape?

Thanks!

  • With a C cup, you can probably get away with sewing cups into your dress as long as it has enough structure. Have you talked to a seamstress yet?

  • Go to Nordstrom's and get fitted for a bra. I just did this recently because I wanted my wedding-day strapless to actually fit and not slide down all day. You will be amazed what a properly fitting one can do. And I am a DD :)
  • I have a strapless bra that is lined with clear sticky stuff that keeps them up.  It is not made anymore by the store, though.

I second this, I'm a size 12 and a G-H (depending on brand).  I have been properly fitted and let me tell you, the right bra will do wonders for the ladies.  You won't constantly be tugging at a slipping bra, or readjusting.

  • I agree with everyone that the right bra can work wonders. I see you're in the Boston area. I highly recommend Intimacy Boutique, and there's a store in Boston. The bras are pricy, but their advice is amazing! They seriously changed my outlook on bras and how they should fit. The fitting's free, so I would give them a try!
  • Only bras that ever fit me correctly are Victoria's Secret bras. I'm a 34 DD.

I'm going with a strapless dress and just like OP strapless bras just do not do anything for me. I am going with a corset that I got from Frederick's of Hollywood.

Helps keep me standing straight and gives me the support that I need for the chest. That would be my recommendation.

  • I have to go with other posters about Nordstrom. I'm a G cup and found an amazing regular strapless bra. I didn't tug on it once, even while dancing. The girls stayed in place all day. And with it being a regular strapless I've been able to wear it for other occasions and always felt comfortable and supported in it. I'll be honest it wasn't cheap ($70) but it was so worth it because I can use it more often and it's opened up my options on summer dresses & tops.
  • I would agree with the others about getting fitted because that can make a difference or going with a corset.  The corset can add more structure to keep them where they need to be.  I've tried and bought both and have been very happy with both options. I'm still debating which to actually use for the wedding though.

  • I bought a long line bra from Davids Bridal after trying on about 30 strapless bras.  I am a size 16 and a 38dd but the long line bra has "boning" in it so it keeps everything in place and since I bought my dress their I could make sure it wasn't going to peek out anywhere.  Only down side is some poor soul is going to have to help me snap like 30 bra hook on the day of the wedding :) sorry mom!

    Good luck!

I am the same size, and second the corset recommendation. A gown salon told me that adding corset structure inside your dress (if there isn't any) is relatively simple and inexpensive, so you might talk to your alterations specialist about that option also.
  • I'd get fitted for a bra, but not at Victoria's Secret.  Get fitted somewhere that sells international brands- American bra brands tend to shove you into a bra that is too small in the cups and too big in the band, so that they can fit more people into fewer sizes. Chances are your current bra is way too big in the band and too small in the cups, so you'll find a smaller band size and larger cup size will fit better and stay up.

  • I'm a 38H, and I got a longline bra from www.lindathebralady.com and it held me up just fine.  you can get longline bras at Macys, JCPenney, Davids Bridal, and lots of other places as well.
  • I am a 34DD and ordered a longline bra off of herroom.com it fit great!
  • Double sided carpet tape works wonders, or so I hear. My chest is small enough that I've never had to try it!

Sounds like we have the same long line bra and I ADORE mine.  It does just enough with the girls (40C) to make them look good under my gown, keeps everything smooth and it's actually really pretty.  I'm considering using it for my boudoir photos whenever that happens.. :)

i got  a long line bra went out and rushed to find out for my first dress try on thank god i did it now than later. the bra does not work with the dress at all i am a 44b and the bra did not go that low in cup size so they gave me a 44c and told  me they would sew cups inside for me.

well the bra is low cut but it still pops out of the top of my dress and the seamstress said not much we can do for you. so now i am stuck with this 69 dollar long line bra and the cups which where 15 i am hoping the store will let me exchange for credit on shapewear or a better bra

i need a regular with clear straps or a strapless not long line.

I've made it a priority to get my bra & shoe options before getting fitted for my dress.  I ordered my dress a few weeks ago.  I had my wedding shoes & strapless bra already purchased before dress shopping, so I could see how they would go with whatever dress I got.  I'm happy with the shoes, but not sure about the bra.  I've since bought a long-line to see how that works.  My dress won't be in until about April though, but at least I'll have them both available for my first fitting to determine what works, what doesn't, and what works best.  I was told that for your first fitting, you should already have everything that you plan to wear under the dress and bring it with you.  Undergarments can alter the sizing needed (padded bra or shapewear that reduces size).  And you need to have your shoes to get the correct length.

  • Agree with all the above on a great bra fitting.  You will feel like a new woman.  I'm a size 6, 34DD and it can be tricky to find a great bra, plus the cost, but it's def worth it.  Strapless can be little more tricky. Some good brands for the bigger girls I've thought work well:  Chantelle (plus, they're so pretty and not the boring nude colors!), Le Myestere, Felina, some Wacoal.  Once you have a proper fitting and certain brands the cup/band size may differ slightly (I'm an E in Chantelle), you can find online places that are cheaper.  The day I bought my dress the lady said I wouldn't need a bra---they would build cups into the dress (woohoo!!).  May depend on your dress though. I  have a sweetheart neckline fit and flare dress.   We'll see how it goes...first fitting is this Saturday, and REALLY hoping to get away without a bra.
  • I wear a 42D and I had cups sewn into my dress.  It worked out well for me.

This.  I had cups sewn in and and had absolutely no problems.
