...deal with people saying "I can't even". I guess this could go with the thread about words and phrases that annoy you. This is definitely one of them for me. It's not a complete sentence or thought (which I guess is why it bothers me so much). Why can't you just finish it off? "I can't even imagine that", "I can't even keep listening to you", "I can't even comprehend what you're saying". UUGHH....Sorry had to get it off my chest.

    I don't say it often, but usually when I do it's because I am genuinely so offended/angry/flustered/whatever that I cannot finish my thought.

    When that happens I either say "Wow...." or I am wide eyed and just blinking OR for flustered (and this is from my FI) that I am like a cartoon when they have been embarrassed. When they look like a thermostat and they slowly from neck to top of their head become red. That apparently is me and I'm speechless or stuttering.

    I have only said "I can't even..." a few times but when I've said it, it's usually in response to something I have found really rude or offensive.

    Sometimes when people say that I like to just add in my own verbs at the end of the sentence and then it's no longer annoying, just amusing.
