Compliments

I don't know if this will work how I'm thinking, but the idea is to say one good thing about the person who posts above you. I think we all need a compliment once in awhile to brighten our days and thought this may be fun.

@FoxandBunny, I love that I'm getting to know you better! You're really chill and fun to chat with.

Edit: Just trying to get this going. Not fishing for compliments all for myself! This will maybe take off tomorrow morning when more ladies are on.

  • I dunno what the rules are now, so I will compliment you both! :D

@FoxandBunny, you're so chill. You are so calm and collected, and you express yourself with incredible ease and insight. I haven't interacted with you much on the boards quite yet, but you just seem mature, entertaining, and awesome, and I hope you're gonna stick around! Also, I give you major props for being real about your dislike of guac, even though I just don't get it. ;)

@Kait, I want to be more like you! I feel like you're often the one to be really pleasant and relaxed and optimistic on here, and it reminds me to chill out and be more positive when I'm having a bad day. Also, I agree with FoxandBunny - I know I've said it a billion times, but you have GORGEOUS hair.

Aw, thank you so much Amapola and Kait. Y'all make me so happy :) I hope once the semester is over that I can be more active and get to know everyone better.

@Amapola14- I just have to say I really admire the way you handled the ending of your relationship with such strength and class. If that had been me, I would have been bawling my eyes out for weeks. The way you handle yourself is just so awesome that I wish I could be more like you. Also the way that you weren't afraid to go after what you wanted and what you knew was best, even though it was going to hurt. I really admire that.

ETA: I didn't take that as fishing for compliments Kait. Though I was wondering how this was going to work with fewer people! Maybe we should just all compliment whoever is above us in whatever manner we wish?

  • @Kait-I appreciate and enjoy your advice to posters

@Amapola-I'm impressed as well with the strength you showed ending your relationship.  I also appreciate the advice you give to posters

@FoxandBunny-I'm looking forward to reading advice from you as well!
  • @natswild - I don't even know who you are, I'm sorry :(

@amapola - You're a strong one, you. I'm glad you reached out to us for help & support. I hope you always feel welcome to do that.

@kait - I loveeeee your red hair. You're quite wise for a young pup. ;)

@foxandbunny - You always chime in with good advice. I look forward to you participating more when you have more time!

  • @kait if it wasn't for you, my hair would look like shit. I love my new hairstylist, thanks to you!

@amapola14 I like you. I think we have the same sense of humor. I'm glad we could all be here to support you when you're going through some crappy stuff. Hang out some more!

@foxandbunny you don't post that often, but when you do, it's usually good things. I'm liking that a lot of the younger newbs here are actually pretty decent!!

@natswild, why can't I remember you? Refresh our memories, tell us something about yourself.

@brisox81 stop fishing for compliments ffs! You and I share the same brain so that right there is a compliment on it's own. Also you're really pretty and have nice legs and you're freaking funny as hell.

@Kait You seem so positive all the time and i love that.

@Amapola I don't know you well but from what I've read in your posts, your advice is good stuff and I admire your strength in dealing with difficult situations

@Foxandbunny I enjoy reading your advice.

@Natswild I really don't know you or hear much from you :( I'm sorry. I need to start paying more attention.

@Brisox81 I like reading your posts because you not only give good advice, but you're funny as well.

  • @Kait - Your siggy pic is gorgeous! I love your hair color! I feel like I haven't gotten to know you very well yet but I enjoy seeing your name pop up in threads and reading your posts :) Also, in that picture you look like one of the girls in my program and it freaks me out a little because I don't talk to her much so it would be so weird if she was on here and read all the stuff I post.

@FoxandBunny - You're new so I don't know much about you but I've really enjoyed your posts recently, I hope you stick around!

@Amapola14 - You are one of my favorite posters here! I'm so so glad you've stuck around because I think you always give really great advice and make threads more enjoyable! I always look forward to reading your opinions on various topics because it seems like you put so much thought into what you write :)

@BriSox81 - I love that we've been agreeing lately, it gives me all sorts of warm fuzzies :) I really admire how confident you are in yourself. You are never afraid to put forward your opinion or disagree with anyone you think is wrong.

@buddysmom80 - I always enjoy your posts :) You are absolutely one of the funniest women on the boards!

@severmilli12 - You're new so I don't really know you too well but so far I like you so I hope you stick around :)

  • @bethsmiles - I love it too! I know there will always be a few differences here & there, but that's to be expected. You're a communications major, which I love, and I think you're a smarty pants who gives excellent advice. I've enjoyed getting to know you better - and I know we have the same taste in rings, so obviously we're on the same level :)

@severmilli12 - we don't always see eye-to-eye, but you're mostly sane ;) And I really love your hair & your ring & your pics in front of the Christmas tree!

@buddysmom80 - you're the other half of my brain. That's all you need to know.

  • @Kait - I love that you started this post. We haven't done these in a while. I'm also completely jealous of your hair color!

@Amapola14 - You seem like the best sister ever. Seeing you and your sis on here makes me wish I had a sister!

@BuddysMom80 - You make me laugh. I love your humor in all kinds of situations! I also heart your punctuation Grumpy Cat!

@BriSox81 - I love that you say what you want to say. You give great advice on here and you're not too shy to tell people like it is. That takes guts...and i'd imagine you're like that IRL, not just on the interwebs.

@BethSmiles - You're one of my favorite regs. I really think we could be great friends IRL. You're so down to earth, and you seem very mature for your age. You rock! Plus, I love that we're state twins!

  • @allusive - thanks :) I know not everyone loves my "tell it like it is" personality, so knowing that someone sweet like you appreciates that means a lot. I think you're awesome & levelheaded, and give great advice. Also, you were a drop-dead gorgeous bride.

  • I dunno if I'm allowed to come back and post more compliments, but you can't really stop me, sooooo :D

@natswild, I don't know you super-well yet, but you seem really nice, so I hope you will stick around and let us take in more of your lovely self!

@brisox81, you're just the coolest. :) You are definitely one of the most welcoming, lively, spirited people on this board, and I've enjoyed getting to know a little bit about you through your posts. I always appreciate hearing what you have to say.

@buddsymom80, actually, you're the coolest too! You are very wise, and at the same time you have inspired more LOL moments on my part than I can count!

@severmilli12, I don't know you very well yet, but you seem like a really resilient, strong person and I'm super-happy for all the good things coming your way in life!

@bethsmiles, I think you should write a book that should be required reading for the whole world! You have so much insight and a lot of great things to say. I always learn something from your posts, whether I agree with them or not (but most of the time I agree :).

@allusive007, just wow. You seem like the most intelligent, well-spoken person ever. I love reading your posts and I think we see eye to eye on a lot of things in life. Also, you're pretty!

(BTW, I think you might be mixing me into the hollister sisters, which is fine by me since they're the bomb! But I don't think they're quite ready for me as a relative, lol. ;)

Well I must not be that intelligent then! Goodness - so sorry! I do always lump the three of you together in my mind for some reason. Maybe it's because you're all just so sweet, bubbly and beautiful!  :)
  • @allusive007 - You are one of my favorite regs! It always makes me smile when you drop by the boards! I also love that we are state twins!! I hope you are staying warm in this cold weather!

AW @allusive007 and @amapola14- You both just made my day lol. I would love to mixed up with either of you any day lol. You're both very smart and beautiful ladies!

@bethsmiles- I think you're so smart and you give the best advice. I love reading your replies to posts, they are always very well thought out.
  • to each of you: I enjoy reading your posts :) I've been lurking for a while, and post sometimes, maybe once a day or two days. I posted in Chit Chat the Christmas balls I'm painting of loons and a snowy owl (Trying Something New). I'm 45, been with my BF 3.5 years, and he's paid for the ring, just waiting for him to get home (around Dec. 20). Going to school in January for EMT (emergency medical technician). Paid off my tuition this morning, yay! Apologies in advance for lack of paragraphs, my ipad is allergic to paragraphs :(. Oh, and I live in northern Alberta, so not enjoying the cold weather (-40 for a couple days, now -20)
  • This is so not in line with the purpose of this thread but oh my god, @natswild. How do you function in -40? I can't even fathom that. It feels like +20 here and I want to cry.

  • Yeah, things tend to break down at that temperature!  I'm lucky in that I just have to watch the guys work from my comfy, warm shack (or truck), depending on where I'm working...also at that temperature, we don't shut our trucks off.
  • I realized I didn't mention above, my BF is 54, and he is the most amazing, incredible man!  He's planned and led 6 canoe expeditions in the Arctic, (has video and photos from each trip), and he is a wildlife photographer in his spare time, easily National Geographic quality...
These are both Sandhill Cranes, and ALL of his wildlife photos are taken in the wilderness. A big sea change for me as a wildlife artist-before I met him, I took my wildlife photos in zoos and wildlife parks....the other two are a Siberian tiger (had just finished rolling in snow in -30 weather and loving it...), and a doberman that I watched at an agility trial :)
  • @natswild - you just became my new favorite poster. What a life!! That is amazing. Tell us more!!!

Thanks! We met at my workplace-I was framing manager for Michaels Arts and Crafts at the time. He was looking for framing for a bunch of his photos, of which the cranes were two; we got to talking, he told me that he was a wildlife photographer, and I said, "that's so cool, I'm a wildlife artist, my paintings are on the wall!". I asked him to email me some photos, but I never expected to hear anything back. He emailed me some photos the next day, and I was amazed. He asked me for coffee, then the day we were supposed to meet, he got called to work. He emailed me, asking me to forgive him, and I told him to do what he needed to do, and call me when he got back, that I completely understood. (And I did, I had worked in the oilfield previously for 4.5 years, and totally familiar with the "drop everything, leave now philosophy"). ETA: damned ipad! I'll separate into paragraphs when I get home to my computer...
  • @natswild - you worked in the oil field? I'm a Landman for an O&G company. What did you do in the industry? Where were you working? I've never run into another oil patch person on here!
  • @allusive007-I was in the oilfield (Alberta) for 4.5 years, 2003-2007, was out of it for 5 years, then got back into it last year, again as an oilfield medic. Going to school in January for EMT, and it's outreach, so I'll be having 10 weeks total at the college, then the rest of the time I'll be working.
  • @natswild - so interesting. I didn't even know there were oilfield medics! Were you with a specific company or is it more of a county/city job? Just curious as I don't spend much time in the field.
  • a lot of the work in the oilfield is inherently dangerous, some more than others.Depending on what province you're in, if travel distance is greater than 20 minutes (BC), to 40 minutes (Alberta) to a hospital, then there must be a medic on site. When there's a lot of people with the most dangerous jobs, then there will be two medics on site. This service is provided by industrial medic companies-the sole job is to provide medic services for oilfield, /lumber/fire fighting season, etc. Mainly industries that have a distance to town. A lot of the EMTs will also spend time working for city ambulance on their days off. That's what I will be doing once I have finished my EMT course in September :)
