Attire & Accessories Forum

So I bought a dress yesterday. . .

But in the middle of trying to shop, a couple of total strangers decided I needed to play model for them. Something about a rushed wedding for a sick woman who couldn't be there to do most of the shopping--they were trying to take measurements over the phone and then kept trying to take my photo, adjust various parts of my dress picks (like messing with the zipper and my bra straps!) and give me covers and accessories to try on. It got crazy enough that the manager ended up trying on dresses too. (The shop was super apologetic, but I was too shocked/amused to be upset.)

Probably my weirdest shopping trip to date. Any other oddball salon experiences?

  • Not in wedding dress shopping, but I was in Macys Sunday and some lady asked me to try on coats for her because I looked like I was her daughters size and she was trying to buy her a coat for Christmas.

I didn't have that happen to me when I got my dress but at least you got to have a little extra fun and help someone else out.

I have had similar things like that happen to me when I was shopping for clothes. I have also had it where I would be looking in a mirror (outside of the room but in the dressing room area) and another lady (not a sales person) would comment on whatever I had on (whether they thought it looked good or not and why). Lol.

  • When I was going dress shopping for my bridesmaids with my cousin to get a sense of quality at some of the shops, I ended up becoming mother hen and fitter to a group of teenagers shopping for prom dresses.
  • I got a nice surprise yesterday though--a handwritten, very complimentary thank you note from the consultant. Made my day!
