Need help with colors!!

Geesh I am so indecisive! I love fuschia pink, and I think I have pretty much decided that is the color I would like for my BM's to wear. I also love light aqua, or even a Tiffany's blue. But I am worried how those 2 colors will look together and how to incorporate them! I am a visual person, and I havent found a whole lot of pictures online of people using those 2 colors which makes me think they wont work together.

Maybe BM's in fuschia, bright colored boquets wrapped in light aqua ribbon, groomsmen wear light aqua vests with a bright pink bout???

Then there's the tables......how to decorate centerpieces with those colors? AHHH

And should I add another accent color? (not black)
Can you tell I need advice?? I am terrible at this! :-(

Re: Need help with colors!!

  • We are using bright pink (not fuschia...more of a hot pink color) with aqua blue.  I think they look great together!  I unfortunately don't have any pictures to show you right now though!

  • I would personally do a Tiffany blue with the fushia if you really want to use a second bold color. As an accent color you could use a champagne type of color. I think that would look nice for the guys' vests. and ties. Most guys aren't going to be thrilled having to wear fushia, even though I know they don't really have a say, if I am making somone pay money to be in my wedding I don't want them to be miserable or hate what they'd had to buy and put on their body. You could have fushia flowers on the suit lapels just to tie in the color.

As far as table settings go, you can use the champagne colored table cloths, with the fushia and blue decorations (flowers, marbles, etc.)

I personally prefer the the more nuetral color as the main color (my BM's will be in black) and then shoes, accent decorations, etc will be my bold colors.  But if you are opting for two bold colors as your main focus, I would use some very light and airy colors to mix in with it and neturalize everything.

Aqua and fuschia is a gorgeous combo!  It will look very tropical and beachy, if that's the look you're going for :)

  • I think those two colors would work fine together, but it is very bold.

A friend of mine did those colors, mainly using the blue and had fuschia as an accent color on her favors, invites, etc.  Here are some pictures.  She used muted purple and orange to contrast the bright pink in the bouquets.

I can't for the life of me remember the centerpieces, but you could use the same flowers and it would look great.

  • Aqua and Fuschia Weddings -   They always look good :)

  • My husband's cousin used this color scheme and it looked good, but in my opinion she overdid it.  Everyone and everything had both colors on and it was just overkill.  You could be more tasteful with it though.
  • Wow, you guys are great! Thanks so much for all of the input. It seems like the majority think that maybe I should do the light aqua as the main color and just use the fuschia as the accent?? So put the BM's in aqua and have them carry bright pink flowers, guys wear aqua vests with a pink flower on their lapel, and do tables with maybe aqua favors and pink flower centerpieces??

I definitely do NOT want to be over-done, I just like the brighter colors better than muted ones.

Keep the suggestions coming! And if anyone has more pictures to share that is what helps the most! Thanks again!

  • I've seen this color combo a lot- in various degrees of blue and pink, and I think it would look great.

  • I think for the guys, I'd keep it really simple, because with aqua or pink, it can end up looking like a bad prom when you go too overboard. I'd keep the vests black, and just do the tie and pocket square as color. Maybe have the GM in one color, and FI in the other. I'd also do ties or cravats, as opposed to bow ties. JMO.

You have to look closely at the picture I posted above, but the groomsmen's vests are silver and the ties are aqua.  I like the effect much better than  that of the full bright colored vest and matching tie.

With those bright colors, I think you have to take the Coco Chanel approach.  Figure out everything you want, then step back and tone a few things down.

  • Knit, I could not open the first link you posted above that starts with sarnotux....

I do NOT like bow ties, so regular ties will be worn. But I do like the all black look with a colored tie, and also like the silver vest with blue tie.

I think it will just come down to doing everything in moderation so its not over the top and circus looking. Even if I decide to use the bright pink for the BM's, as long as the guys are dressed right, and the reception venue isnt splattered with pink everywhere, I think it just might work out.
  • Eh, that was my least favorite pic, anyhow! :)

I think you have the right idea, though. I think blue on the ladies with bright pink flowers would be lovely, and you seem aware enough of the "circus" potential to keep it all classy- should be lovely!
