This had promise of being some really hokey new sci-fi, but I'm really enjoying it.  

Plus, grouchy Karl Urban.

    I haven't seen him in anything.

    I like it.  I like that it's set only 40ish years into the future, so I think it's rather believable with the technological explosion that the cops can't keep up with.  Michael Ealy reminds me so much of Mario Peebles, I almost can't stand it at times.  And they could've made him very "Magic Negro" type role, but I think they're doing an okay job straddling the line so far without going too far over into either too magic or too human.  There are time the schtick gets a little annoying, but it's not enough to keep me from tuning in.

    They were making Urban's character a little too gruff detective w/heart of gold, in the beginning but they're expanding it in these later episodes and keeping it from being quite so stereotyped.  I like Lily Taylor as the chief.  The other detectives are kind of lacking so far (one is the obvious, IDK, robotist and the other is the obvious love interest), but they're not irritating enough to keep me from watching.

    I love Karl Urban, so I started watching for him, and I'm staying for the sci-fi.  I really like what they've been doing with it.  I hope they really delve into the psychological questions that arise from the use of synthetics.  Maybe Urban's character will lose his synthetic leg and the idea of whether or not he really lost a limb again or if he just lost a piece of equipment will come in. 
    I'm looking forward to revenge plots, too.  Urban does revenge very well.

    Dh and I weren't expecting much, but this one like Black list was a pleasant surprise. Agents of Shield backs up on Hulu but so far Almost Human and Black list we clear out right away. Eager to see where it goes.
