Coastal Gourmet Tasting

My fiance and I can't attend the group food tasting for our wedding since he travels a lot for work.  We have scheduled a private tasting and have to choose which foods we want to taste in each category- hors d'oeuvres, entrees, and side dishes.  Since we can't try everything, I was wondering if people who have gotten married at Mystic Seaport or who have used Coastal Gourmet as their caterer have any recommendations for foods we should try.  There are so many choices and I would love to know what others "must-haves" were.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Coastal Gourmet Tasting

  • I used to work at the Wadsworth Mansion and they are one of the preferred vendors there. I can honestly say that everything I've had of theirs is delicious! I really don't think you could get anything bad from them. But that is my opinion and I love seafood! If I could afford them, I'd use them for my wedding!!
  • Hmmmm...All of their food is really good!  We went to the group tasting and to be honest it's nice to have several choices to try but neither of the main courses we had orginally chosen were part of the tasting- we still went with them and they were delicious!  The only hor d'oeruvres that we ended up changing based on the tasting was we added the tomato soup with grilled cheese- very cute presentation and yummy- was a hit at our wedding in Aug.  I would say definitely try a risotto cake as a side(something different and really good).  We had the cracker pepper and rosemary crusted tenderloin and it was soooo good!  They do have tons of choices.  Go thru and think of what you like to eat and go from there, highlight what you like and cross off what you don't.  Talk to your contact at Coastal- we had Keri and she was really great about giving suggestions for popular items, what their "signature" dishes were, etc. For us we really wanted a good chicken and beef dish and we love asparagus and risotto so we were able to taste the risotto at the tasting and you really can't screw up grilled asparagus.  It really is up to you what you want- everyone's tastes are different.  Good luck!!   And have fun too- tasting everything is the fun part!!!

  • I have never heard a bad comment about their food. I've work a few times with them they are an incredible company.
  • Would you mind sharing the pricing for the wedding packages offered at Latitude 41 by Coastal Gourmet? I have tried contacting them a couple times recently and have not heard anything back yet. If their price point is too high, then I will just stop contacting them :) Thank you!!
  • Coastal Gourmet is so good!  My best friend used them for her wedding in July 2012.  Everything was delicious.
  • We used CG for our wedding and honestly, you can not go wrong.  Pick a few things that sound good to you and just have fun!  You will love them.  The food is awesome.

  • We had our tasting and everything was great- it was difficult to choose! I believe buffet is $90/pp, seated dinner is $105/pp and stations are $120/pp.  We're going with a seated dinner so I'm not as certain about the other options.  I liked that they have a price minimum rather than a minimum person count. I would rather add in extra food to meet the minimum than pay for people who don't exist if you're under the minimum.
