Hi Ladies,

I am new to here, but I would love your opinions on my dress!

I have two wedding dresses purchased ... One I loved the bottom and the other I loved the top. I have already found a seamstress that can alter them together like this photoshopped image I put together. I do not want a traditional dress or bridal look, but something glamorous and glitzy for the theme and date.

Do you ladies think this would be a good choice?

The bottom is actually pretty elaborate, hard to tell because of the photoshopped pic. I posted the original pic of first dress, it shows the front and back of that skirt

Thanks! I wanted a non-traditional dress and two tone dresses are popular this season, I like the contrast. But I appreciate ur opinion. The first dress is too demure and traditional for me. I am going for more of a 1930's starlet look, same as the bridesmaids. Congrats on ur wedding!

TBH, that doesn't really say Old New York to me at all. The dress itself is stunning, but would look way out of place in 1930. The top does a tiny bit because of the beading, but the bottom is definitely a modern/trendy look. Strapless and sweetheart neckline is also not a 1930s look.

If you want the 1930 look, I'd stick with an a-line silhouette, non-strapless, and satin or lace with some beading, but not as much as you have here. Here are a couple of examples:

It is supposed to be Old Hollywood, not New York. Gatsby glamor portion is in decor, etc. Mermaid and fit n flare silhouettes were popular in 1930's, not the 20's though. The links u sent are beautiful and geared towards the 20's. I am trying to avoid the flapper look. I'm going more for the silver screen starlet look. Thanks for ur opinion and the links. Much appreciated. I do not want to look like a traditional bride, and I don't like the pearls, the draped dresses of that time. I'm a big flare, bling, diamond kinda girl. Plus, I have both dresses and they were cheap. Less than $400 for both.

I agree with this. I would rather see you add more bling to the dress with the bottom you like then try and mix two dresses that don't really go together.

And with such a stark white bottom it almost makes the top portion of the other dress look dirty.
