Is it just me?

Or do venues seem to use some of the cheapest tackiest weddings for their pics? I know a lot of upscale venues have AMAZING photos, but the park and country club I have looked at which are beautiful have the worst pics available and have FI nixing them already. The park was his suggestion after a family day to that park and I can totally see it being amazing with my decor in mind and its great for our budget 1000 for 10 am-midnight and all tables and chairs included, but the pics made him decide he was wrong. I'm trying to point out I will not be using shiny satin table cloths, fake flowers or balloons, but the pics have him totally turned off.

Re: Is it just me?

  • Yeah, I wouldn't have liked my venue on paper had I not seen it prior to seeing their marketing materials.
  • That sucks. I felt the same looking at venues. Can you google the venue and see if any photography blogs have pictures there. That helped me with places that didn't have pictures
  • I don't love my venue's website, I think it's sort of overly ornate and tacky.  So many things about the wedding industry seem so old-fashioned and overdone!

I feel the same way. The wedding our venue uses on their site would have made me run away in the opposite direction if I had not already been familiar with the venue and have attended other weddings there.

  • I know what you mean. Our venue was stunning in person but the pictures from other weddings were so-so. H and I splurged on photography/videography. After our wedding highlights video came out the coordinator from the venue asked us if they could put it on their website. :)
  • Some of our local venues use pictures from their family weddings that took place in the '70s, brides in big floppy hats, grooms in ruffled shirts, balloons, fake floral arches etc....It's not a good look. I wonder how many couples crosses them off their list of venues to consider, just because of those pictures.

  • Our venue doesn't even have a website!  But I definitely agree that many sites need an update.  Before we booked our venue, we looked into a lot of different places and in their pics I swear I saw clothes from when my parents and even when my grandparents were married.

  • Yay! I showed your replies to FI and now he's willing to reconsider the park!

  • I didnt see any pics on my venues website. I thought they did just catering. FI was sure he had been to a wedding there so we went to see it. Turns out its beautiful, the food is amazing AND two of his cousins got married there.
I would have never went to look at the place based on the website.
