Wedding Woes

Mornin'

DefConn was a grump this morning.  He said, "No good morning.  I want go to back to night-night!"  He also cried at drop-off.

I had a ridiculous bloody nose on the way to the sitter.  Thankfully, I had napkins and an old dish towel in the car.  And an awesome sitter who didn't mind that I showed up a bloody mess.

My day off is tomorrow.  There is definitely going to be some sleeping in going on. I also need to wrap more presents, exchange a gift, and get some housework done.

The kiddo's winter choir concert is tonight.  They have to dance with canes for at least one song.  I cannot wait.  :D

Re: Mornin'

  • I have bad shipping karma.  I have  3 lost orders- Kohls, shutterfly, and some random urban studio.
  • Ugh 6.  WTF?

I will say that this year's shipping has been wonky as hell through UPS.  Their tracking has not been accurate at all.

Here's a funny regarding shipping and holiday shopping:

  • Me too 6, I have 2 that are just missing and I got one from Hastings that was empty!  It had been nicely slit open and nothing left but the packing slip.  My H was working at the PO sorting his route and they brought it to him, it had just came into our PO in the bins, we know it didn't happen local, but somewhere somebody decided they wanted my movies.  Hastings gave me a refund, but season 9 of Little House was sold out, so now to finish them out for my DD I had to pay double to order from somewhere else and who knows if it will show up before Christmas.  I have never had this much trouble ordering online before!
  • We haven't had any shipping issues YET, but I'm still waiting on the gifts for my mom and my father-in-law, so there's still time for something to fuck up.

Today's my day off, so of course I have every moment filled with things to do, sigh. One of them is a 90 minute massage, but I always get a deep tissue, so it's up in the air whether that's a happy thing or a screaming pain thing.

  • I only bought like 2 things for gifts online, which is a first....so I'm lucky.

I am irrationally angry this morning.  I am hulk-smash on a dime, kind of angry.  Blast you in the face kind of angry.  HORMONAL KIND OF ANGRY!!!

    *sigh*

I tried to work out, 8 minutes in...POUNDING headache, so not only am I off track (oh the humanityyyy), but now I have a feeling this week will be a no go with working out.  Meh...that's life, right.

Roll with the punches.  Or is it...drink all of the punch?
  • I'm w/DefCon on that.

I didn't know Hastings was still in business.

I'm doing almost nothing but filing in preparation for being on vacation next week.  I'm so so so ready.

Woke up Sunday with severe sciatica. As in move the leg and want to scream/cry/throw up from pain. Took yesterday off from work to see doctor, get shots and therapy. Feeling maybe 80% when I'm sitting, but the moment I get up to do something at the office, I go to 50-60% mobility.

Most of the stuff I need shipped is not having a problem. The one thing that is is a gift for FI. Didn't find out till AFTER confirmation was received that they "can take up to 15 days to process before shipping." WTF, 15 days just to PROCESS?!?!

  • My only gift issue is USPS straight up LOST my mom's christmas gift. They did manage to find it 2 days later. I also ordered BM gifts on philosophy and it was stuck in AZ for 10 days. uh. What? Good thing they weren't xmas gifts, but even then I still got them way before christmas.

  • We've been okay with shipping so far, but I have a new baby carrier coming by USPS this week. I don't hold out much hope for it coming by it's promised delivery date.

And I am raging now. i should know better then to get sucked into online arguments but I did. The gist shakes out to this: Women shouldn't nurse in public because after boys turn 12 they have uncontrollable hormones and don'ts realize that they can't have all the boobs they see. And even boys who were raised right turn into men that will always get horny when they see boobs, even if it is their own wife breastfeeding. *rageragerage*
  • Internet stupidity jut burns so much sometimes that not saying something feels like tacit approval.

(although, on that subject, i generally used a cover because Miss Buffy liked to unlatch and look at the world--which left me hanging in the wind.  But if my dad--the most awkward and repressed man in the world, could learn to be in the same room and talk to me while BFing, anyone can do it :)
  • DD is the same way now, so I tend to have a sweater or something near to quick cover myself, not solely for keeping my boob from prying eyes, but from her prying hands. It is her new favorite toy!

This is on a breastfeeding moms FB group. We all BF. And 2 women are of the opinion that it is too hard for men to make the distinction and so we should all hide. My question about pregnant women in public showing off that they obviously had sex (those whores) and whether or not we should all be in hiding once we start to show went unanswered.

This is my problem too, GB.  If I don't say anything, they're going to think they've "won" and I know agree with them.  I have an acquaintance who I'm going to have to put back on restricted on my FB b/c of this.
  • @VarunaTT and @GBCK That was pretty much it. I pulled out appeal to probability, but I am sure it was lost on both these women. They are both convinced that hormones is the problem, not a lack of education and respect for our fellow peoples. 12 yo boys and their hormones, just pat them on the head, hide away, and let them be apparently.

My aunt and uncle and their kids are part of some crazy sect of Lutheranism.  My cousin is married to a pastor and was a teacher in a Lutheran school.  She had to
quit her job once she started to show when she was pregnant because that was the school's policy.  That is the norm across the board for their religion.

My mom is the one who told me this (I'm far to 'out there' to even be FB friends with her, my aunt, or uncle, natch).  When she did, I was all, "What in the actual fuck?!"
  • I am thankfully not that kind of Lutheran...I didn't know they even existed!
  • I know, Jojo.  I don't think I realized the full extent of their church's insanity until my mom was telling me all about that mess.

My aunt and cousins, who are Mormon, seem tame compared to them.

Is this Missouri Synod?  Holy heck.  I do know (or at least assume in vast sweeping generalities) that it is the more "barefoot and pregnants" of the Lutheran branches.

Also...I'd say the BFing argument of men being unable to control themselves isn't a far cry from women deserving rape if they dress provocatively.  Or maybe I'm just wanting to play "jump to conclusions" today.

  • Yes, O...I do think that is what they're called.  I do think my aunt did work.  But they always enveloped the kids in the faith thoughout their schooling.  Private elementary and then they sent their kids to Lutheran boarding school for HS (maybe Jr. High too).

  • I made the same comparison @oface4eva. Yay rape culture.

And if MrsConn's family is Missouri synod, I'd be shocked, I am Missouri synod and walked my pregnant self all over the place for services and what not.
  • Huh, well then I don't know.  They all live in Michigan.

All of the Lutherans that I know, besides them, are a lot more liberal.
  • @Conn-I'm wondering if that relative was just an outlier, as the Missouri Synod (who is the more conservative of the Lutheran branches) definitely doesn't condone unfair practices toward pregnant women, printed in their own brochure for their very own employees.

    Weird all around.
  • Could be Wisconsin Synod Lutherans - they tend to be the most conservative.

  • *off to research*
  • All I know is that I look at their faith and think, "That's weird and I don't want that."  ;)
