Married Ladies...

For those of you that are married, or for the ones who are getting close to your wedding date, did the months drag on while you were planning or did it seem to go by fast? How many months did you have to plan your wedding?

We are still 8 months out but I can tell you the six months since we got engaged has flown by. It all goes by so fast.

I was definitely the girl in the beginning saying 'We have so much time this will be such a long wait.' Nope. Lied to myself.
  • @aefitz29 looks like we're getting married on the same day!

  • Holy crap I didn't even notice!!! Nice welcome to the September 6th club! BTW I love your ring it is beautiful.
  • We got married seven months after we got engaged. The first two months were a flurry of activity as we locked down all the vendors. Then we had three months of pretty much nothing. And then two months of busy-ness again as we completed all our projects and got everything ready. So yes, we had lulls, but I think it was the perfect amount of time to be engaged.
  • We got married 14 months after we got engaged. We didn't intend on waiting that long, but between the dates that didn't coincide with a family members birthday, and what the venue we wanted had available, that's how far out it ended up. There were some times when it felt like those months flew by, and others when it felt like they were dragging. I ended up unemployed for 6 weeks about 2 months before our wedding, and since I already had a new job lined up I used that time to finish pretty much everything, so those last 2 months did seem to drag since I didn't have anything to do!

  • My husband and I were engaged for about six months before getting married.  The first two months we were busy booking vendors, then there were about three months of doing little things here and there but nothing major, and the month leading up we were doing wedding-related stuff a couple days a week.  It went pretty quick- not stressful per se, but busy.

we're engaged for 16 months... Finally made it down to almost 6 months remain. From Jan-July flew. Now I'm just twiddling my thumbs... After christmas I'm going to play with my centerpieces. I have invites all ready to make them. Might do that during christmas break a little. Then all that is left is ceremony stuff which they won't work with me on it til about 3 months remaining and getting my dress altered. Then comes the fun times of paying off things and getting rsvp's in and making seating charts. woo!

ETA: I apparently can't do math.

  • We were engaged for 27 months. The beginning flew by because we were busy looking at venues. But once we got that figured out we had about a year and a half of not planning anything. I wouldn't say it dragged but it did go slower. The last 3-4 months flew by though.

  • It went by really fast. We had a 14 month engagement. We for sure could have gotten married sooner, but we wanted a summer wedding and we had other stuff going on (moving, buying a house, me starting a new job......) so it made sense to have a longer engagement.

  • We had a 3 year engagement (Fall 2009, married Fall 2012).  Yup 3 years.  We didn't do much for the first year or so mostly because no vendors really wanted to talk to us yet.  We really kicked planning into high gear in the Fall of 2010.  We wanted to get married in our hometown at the height of tourist season, so we had to get the venue booked as early as possible.

I would say most of the time it seem like we had loads of time (we kind of did) so there was no panicky get things done until about the 2 months prior to the wedding.  Even then we had so much in the ready to go stage, it wasn't too bad.

  • We were engaged for almost 20 months (had to plan around my H's law school & summer associate schedules), and overall it flew by.  We got married in my hometown about 3 hours from where we currently live so there was a lot of driving back and forth on weekends to meet vendors.  I think since the bulk of our planning was done on weekends that made the time go really quickly.  I will say, at the end of our engagement, we were just so ready to be married that the wedding couldn't come soon enough.
  • We were enagaged 9 months. I think it was the perfect amount of time for us. I didnt feel rushed during the planning process and still had lots of options from vendors.

  • We were engaged for 2 years and they flew by, especially the last 6 months.
  • I'm getting married at the end of April, and in May I would have been engaged for 2 years. I can't believe it's already almost 4 months until the big day....it definitely went by fast! At first I was like ugh this is taking forever, and now I'm thinking about all the things I still need to do!

  • Way too long. I hated all that wedding shit.

  • 2/8/2014 - I know it's only a guess but this whole cold super bowl is kind of making me worried. If this supposed storm gets delayed, it might hit on our wedding weekend. Which would SUUUCK!!!

As for the time going by or not going by....in the beginning it was very "come on already!" Now with 52 days away....I'm starting to feel that O.O OMG OMG OMG mentality. Hahaha

  • I started actively planning a year out. It neither dragged nor went by fast for me and seemed a good amount of time to pull everything together.

  • We'll have been engaged 8 months and a week. I wanted a shorter engagement but it worked out. Glad now it's in February and after the holidays.
59 more days! We'll have been together a couple weeks shy of 3 years and I'm ready for married life to start.

We're 2/8 too! Got engaged 10/12. It felt long in the middle, but since august it's been flying by.

I haven't heard anything about the superbowl being moved?

No they are not moving the super bowl. They are going to play in it whether that storm hits or not. >.>

This is on the Superowl Website  The people of New York & New Jersey are proud to host the first outdoor, cold weather Super Bowl.

Been Engaged since 6/29/11- long engagement and a lot of changes so it didn't start feeling long till the end of last year and like you guys it's been going by since August too.

Where are you getting married at? Albany, NY area for us.

  • 28 months. H proposed on Valentine's Day in 2011. We originally wanted to get married in Fall 2012 but decided to push it back a year so we'd both be done with school and things would be more manageable. We actually had already booked our photographer but he was great and moved our date. After we moved the date we booked the venue. We had all the vendors booked in 2012 so it gave us a nice break from the stress. When we got to October this year things started picking up again.
  • We were engaged for 10 months. Especially busy at the beginning picking vendors.  Slowed down a bit the middle months, and then picked up when finalizing everything.  The time flew by, but I never felt overwhelmed.

10 months was perfect.  We could've done it in less time, but I wanted to make sure I had enough time to get a dress.
