Vegas?

Has anyone been to Vegas for their honeymoon?  We booked the Excalibur and was wondering what "romantic" things there are to do there?  This is my 2nd wedding and didn't have a honeymoon the first time so I am excited to be actually going on one this time.  :-)

Re: Vegas?

  • Not trying to be insensitive or rude but is there are reason you booked the Excalibur? I went there years ago and it was a dump. If you're looking for a good price, we're staying the Monte Carlo in a few months for only $60/night. It's right on the strip next to Ceasars and Bellagio. I've also stayed at Treasure Island and the Mirage and can recommend those but they cost a little more.

I've been to Vegas about 4 times and my FI has never been. Definitely see a Cirque du Soliel show- I freakin love the Bealtes Love show but there are so many others if you don't like Beatles music. Vegas isn't really synonymous with romantic...you can ride the NYNY roller coaster together and get dinner at the top of the Stratosphere. Maybe get a couples massage at the hotel spa.

  • @saseblon73 I will second what PP asked... is there a reason for Excalibur?? I live here in Vegas and have stayed at both the Excalibur and Monte Carlo for mini stay-cations before and would likely never stay at Excalibur again. Monte Carlo was moderately priced, the rooms weren't bad and it's a great location. Middle-of-the-road hotels that are still on the nicer side that you could look in to are MGM, Planet Hollywood, etc. The Tropicana is also now a DoubleTree so could be worth looking in to.

Romantic things... I would suggest dinner at one of the Wynn Restaurants that offer the view of the Lake of Dreams. Very pretty. Pricey, but the food is soooo worth it. Cirque shows, as mentioned before, are also fantastic, and there is likely a show to suit any taste. I would also second the recommendation for using the hotel spas! :)

What time of year will you be here?? That can influence some fun things to do.

  • We will be there the 16th - 20th of March.  My travel agent said the Excalibur would be good and it is joined with Luxor as far as offering deals on shows and such.  Now I am a little worried.  :-(

  • @saseblon73 your travel agent may need a new job haha I would definitely look elsewhere, if you have some room with your budget. Luxor isn't horrible but certainly not worth staying at Excalibur to be near. And regardless of where you stay, you can find deals on shows. There also aren't any noteworthy restaurants in those properties, if food is a priority to you and your FI.

  • Everything is paid for and booked already.  :-(

Sometimes you reserve with a credit card but then they don't actually charge it until you stay there...call the agent and ask if there's anything you can do. My mom's a travel agent and she'd never send someone to that hotel. I'm sorry!
  • Thank you all!  I just got off the phone with my agent and for just a little more, we are now booked at the MGM Grand!  :-)
  • Yaaay good job!!
  • @saseblon73 WOOHOO! MGM is a GREAT property and they renovated most of their rooms in the last two years, they are NICE! And great restaurants - Craft Steak is one of my favorites! HAVE FUN!! :)

  • We also got 2 free tickets included for our choice of shows...Circque De Soliel (sp?) it is!!!
  • Le Reve is a fantastic show. Eiffle Tower Restaurant is fantastic. I'm glad you aren't staying at that dump Excalibur anymore. Also, take the bus down to Fremont Street it's pretty fun.

I beg to differ. Vegas can be so romantic if you know how to do it. FI and I got engaged in Vegas and we are having out wedding out there in April.

So many beautiful restaurants, shows, hotels to explore, cocktails to drink, a cabana at the pool...

Parasol Up at the Wynn is a favorite, Napoleon's at the Paris, tea (and just about anything!) at the Bellagio. The new Trump hotel has a great Happy Hour. Absinthe is a great show and of course you have Britney at the PH now :)
