Real or Fake flowers

Hi girls-

We are trying to not exceed budget and i heard that flowers can be very expensive. I was thinking using fake flowers for our wedding party and real flowers for the centerpieces... anyone have a preference and/or pictures of fake flowers they may have used that looked nice? My friend went on etsy and had paper flowers made which were super cute,so that's an option too.

thanks guys!

Re: Real or Fake flowers

  • If you are really concerned about budget I would suggest having non-flower centerpieces. Fake flowers can end up being just as expensive as real flowers.

  • I would definitely go with non-floral centerpieces.

I priced it out and fake flowers were just as much as real. I put four hydrangeas together and they were lovely for my bouquet.
  • Honestly I don`t like fake flowers, even the real touch silk ones or whatever they`re called.  If you cannot afford real flowers (even the cheaper ones), then maybe you could do alternative centerpieces, as PPs have said, and the BMs bouquets could be real flowers or another alternative of come kind (ie. BMs at some weddings carry lanterns, a meaningful or religious books, clutches, pinwheels, parasols, fans, etc.).

  • I would say go non-floral, as a BM who had fake flowers it looks cheap and to me and I personally feel that if you have flowers, have flowers but don't try to fake it.

  • If you want to do fake flowers, Real Touch are generally the better ones, but they can be costly too. I've actually looked at the paper rose bouquets and kind of like them. I've debated using those myself.

Another alternative to keep cost down is to make your own real bouquets. You can get flowers cheap from standard grocery store or even a florist if you aren't looking for full bouquets. To make it easy and cheaper, maybe even have BMs carry single flower.

I agree with other posters about doing non-floral center pieces. I actually prefer the non-floral look for those. You don't need anything extravagant either.

  • talk to a florist and tell them you want flowers for your wedding but you really dont want to spend thousands of dollars on them. there are flowers out there that are inexpensive Garbera daisy's are one of them. i am using different colored daisy's for my maids and i am having some roses in my bouquet. i am paying around 900 for all my flowers
