I have always envisioned my bridesmaids wearing really really casual dresses - the kind that someone truly can wear again. This is especially important to me because one of my girls has a VERY strict budget and I want to respect that by not making her spend a ton of money on a dress she'll never have a reason to wear again. I have never even considered making them long dresses, always wanted knee length. And my girls are polar opposite body types so there's no way they're all fitting in the same cut of dress, so they get to pick their own.
Problem is, by random coincidence, everyone else's attire is ending up very formal. I had planned on wearing a simple A-line, but after trying on dresses it turns out I am super girly and LOVE formal ball gowns with tons of sparkle. My fiancee has decided he either wants a "James Bond" tux, or his military uniform that is also very very formal (not the uniform you usually think of - this one involves tails and is cut like a tux) - the best man would be in this uniform as well.
So will it look off to have the bridesmaids so informal? Any tips on increasing their formality while still letting them get a casual dress? I'd like to avoid the "you can totally hem it and then wear it again" dresses because, let's be honest, no one actually does that.
