Location Help!

Hi Everyone,

I am newly engaged and my fiancé is from Copenhagen, Denmark. We live in NYC, but I am originally from Cleveland, OH.  We've decided to do two separate weddings, given the cost of having my family travel to Europe, or his to the US.

However, I really had my heart set on a destination wedding, where we could all spend the weekend together. Finding a location is impossibly difficult, and I could really use your advice, as we want to get married in April/May/June, but haven't made any plans yet. :-/

What I would like:
1) A destination near to Cleveland where close friends/family would want to stay overnight for 2 nights
2) Or a place where it would be relatively cheap/convenient for people to fly to for a long weekend (I've thought about Phoenix, Napa Valley, Puerto Rico)
3) Or a destination in a neighboring state, again, where people would want to stay overnight for 2 nights. (I looked at Finger Lakes, but it looks a little too quiet there)

I'm a little classy, a little casual, and food is SUPER important, so I am trying to find somewhere with awesome cuisine.  (I'm a bit of a food snob!)

I would appreciate any ideas you have.

Thank you!

Re: Location Help!

  • What about Quail Hollow in Concord, OH. They have a golf course as part of their resort and are very close to wineries and could help you organize a fun winery tour. Someone I know had her wedding there, they had planned to do an outdoor ceremony but the weather got bad and the venue was able to move it indoors very easily. Not much for shopping in the area, but lots of parks for hiking/walking if you have guests into that.
