Wedding Planning -- Best and Worst Parts?

Hello!

I'm getting married in June.  I've been engaged for a little over 6 months now....For me the wedding planning has been equal parts stressful and equal parts fun.  How about you?
Married girls--what were the best and worst parts?
Engaged girls--what are your experiences so far?

Re: Wedding Planning -- Best and Worst Parts?

  • Married:  The worst part was cutting down our guest list, and who to invite, list a, list b and of course then everyone that our families wanted us to invite and still stay within budget.    The best part, was marrying my best friend but planning wise it was my planner.  It was helpful to have someone to take care of things I couldn't and someone to vent too.

  • Agreed!  Having someone to vent to is super important!

Yes, I am getting more and more excited every day to marry my fiancé!

Worst parts for me have been: cutting down the guest list, trying to find a ceremony location that works for both of us (my fiancé was hard to please in that area), finding flowers and decorations in my budget that will work for the reception and ceremony.

Best parts:  Cake tasting, tastings with caterer, attending bridal shows and getting ideas.  Also the engagement photo session was super fun for me and the pictures turned out to be amazing!

Worst parts: cutting down the guest list, finding a reception venue that would work with both our small budget and our small guest list (many places didn't want to talk to us because our maximum head count including vendors is 75), finding a dress (I refused to pay $$$$ so finding a budget gown was key, plus I hated dress shopping the first time around and absolutely dreaded it this time as well).

Best parts: finding our venue (Inn at Middletown) and picturing us being married and celebrating there, our officiant and photographer being super and so easy to work with, booking our honeymoon (finding out we can bring our own wine onto the cruise ship didn't hurt lol).

  • Glad to know I wasn't the only one who suffered with the guest list.  :)

Worst parts: From the beginning it has been very hard paying for everything and saving money, cutting down the guest list, and now trying to figure out where to have my rehearsal dinner.

Best parts: Finding my dress, going dress shopping with my girls for their dresses, having our engagement session, and I'm really looking forward to doing our cake tasting next week!

  • Yes, I reported that person, hopefully she gets a warning and the comment is removed.
