Wedding Invitations & Paper

Accommodation enclosure cards

We are ordering our invitations from Etsy and I love them. If we include an enclosure card, we have to pay additional for it.

Our hotel also will send us cards with the info about the rate & how to book.

Would you order & pay for enclosures, so they match the rest of the invitation? Or save the $ and just use the non-matching one from the hotel?

Re: Accommodation enclosure cards

  • non-matching any day. I actually made my own using card stock.

  • Nonmatching. I did the same thing as @melbelleup!
  • Depending on the amount of money, I would want everything to match.

  • @Doeydo, it's about $150. I am so much the matching type - we are getting programs, escort cards, etc. all to match the invitations. But the invitations are way more than we initially planned to spend so I am just having some sticker shock!
  • Oh, then personally I would let it go and not worry about matching unless you have room in your budget.

Holy moly. I'm all about matching, don't get me wrong, but $150 is more than my invites even cost. I'd pass unless your budget can handle it and it would annoy you if they weren't matching

  • melbelleup, I know! I had originally said invitations were somewhere we would save money, they end up in the trash, etc. Then we found these on Etsy and FI loved them and decided it would be fine to quadruple our invitation budget!

  • we printed our website on the back of the card directing people there for travel/accomodations.  paying for another card gets really expensive so I understand not wanting to do it.  but if the hotel is giving you free cards, go ahead with it!  then you are guaranteed the information is correct.

I just made my insert cards on Vistaprint. It took me about an hour to get the fonts how I wanted it and sure, it doesn't perfectly match the invites, but we are okay with that.
We got matching RSVP cards when we ordered the invites on Wedding Diva's and it cost us about $400 for just the invitations and the RSVP's!
If you can play around on vistaprint, it's definitely worth it, since instead of the $190 it would have cost for insert cards, we got 150 of them for $70.

We put the directions to the winery and the address of it on the front, and then below the directions we put the wedding website and password.
Then on the back are accommodation recommendations and a blurb about the expected temps and a recommendation to wear flat shoes/mention that it's all outdoors.

  • We ended up using the matching ones because I am too crazy not to, and I had to make a decision to the Etsy seller before the hotel sent me theirs. And I am glad we did because the ones from the hotel are hideous and spelled accommodations wrong!
  • Gaghh I should have waited to order my enclosure cards. I realized today after looking at them that I forgot the zip code on the location address, accidentally used two different script fonts on the front and back headers and generally the card design doesn't really go with our invites.
    =(
Now I'm sad because there's a much nicer looking one that would have matched them on there but I can't order them because it would be a total waste of money.

And this is why I'm happy I'm doing DIY invites. The font matches all of them since I am the one picking the fonts and downloaded it. Sorry for your dilemma though :(

  • Save the money for sure, I made my own using card stock as well.

Sadly I probably would have had the same problem doing DIY ones lol. It's alright, really it's not the end of the world. They look a little strange, but I sincerely doubt anyone is going to really notice. The ones I made still very much fit the venue we are at, since it's rustic [as much as I hate that word because it's sooo overused]. At least I goofed on them and not the actual invites!

If you ordered them from Vistaprint, call or e-mail Vistaprint customer service ASAP. Vistaprint had me re-make some postcards after I realized a typo I made and they express shipped the replacements to me for free, even though this was my error.  Their customer service is top-notch.

I e-mailed asking if I could have them replaced for the same sale price I paid since the sale had ended.  I was thrilled when they offered to have me re-make them and ship them to me at no cost. I had replacements about 4 days after I re-placed the order.

That's good to know! I got mine in the mail today, so it might be too late for me to change anything. But I must say their packaging is great and I am so shocked that they got here so fast! I'm going to take a look at them tomorrow, unfortunately in my rush to leave work I left the box sitting next to my desk.

Depending on when you're looking to send them out, it might not be too late at all.  I changed mine after I received them in the mail.  You could possibly have replacements in well under a week.  Good Luck!

  • Is it OK then to include your wedding website & just put accommodations info there? That's what I originally had planned.
  • I think that should be fine! The enclosure cards I made just happened to have a backside that was printable on, so I stuck a couple hotel recommendations on there, since we do have some guests that would prefer to call by phone and not have to look things up on websites.

I got my enclosure cards today! They actually turned out really nice and I'm totally happy with them in person. Since you have to flip the card over to look at the back you don't really notice that the two script fonts are not exactly the same. They're also not as "rustic" looking or as tan as the picture proof made them look.
I totally recommend VistaPrint. They got here faster than our actual invites did, and they were so easy to make.
Everything was packed really nicely too.
