Need to Redo Two Envelopes...OK to Handwrite or Should I Get them Reprinted?

I have two issues, but both involve needing to re-address two envelopes.  The first issue is that my aunt moved and didn't give anyone the new address, we only found out recently when the bridal shower invites were mailed out.  She is having her mail forwarded.  The next issue is that one of our guests recently broke up with his girlfriend.  The envelope was addressed to the both of them, but I would still like to invite him with a guest as a courtesy because I'm sure this is a rough time and going to a wedding, I want him to enjoy himself.

Do I leave the envelopes addressed the way that they are, hoping that my aunt's gets the invite and explain to our newly single guest that even though the envelope is addressed to the both of them, he is more than able to bring someone else with him?

Do I handwrite new envelopes even though the return address is printed?

Or do I see if the place I purchased our invites and envelopes from can just reprint two new envelopes for a minor cost?

Thanks!!

  • I vote for handwritten envelopes with the correct information to be sent to these guests.  Mail forwarding can slow down the piece of mail, and isn't always a guarantee.  In the case of the recent breakup, it would be best to write a new envelope out addressed to him and a guest.  If it's been a rough breakup, he might not want to see her name on the same planet as his, never mind the same envelope.  Also if he invites a guest and she sees "ex-girlfriend's name" on the envelope, she'll know she's a "replacement" and that could be ugly. None of this may matter to him but I'd err on the side of just avoiding it and handwriting a new envelope.

I wouldn't at all care if my name and address were handwritten on an envelope that had the return address pre-printed on it.
