Changing venue....! From Graceland chapel to little church of the west-thoughts?

So I have booked the "can't help falling in love" package at Graceland Chapel for June-just fiancée and I and thought would be fun quirky Las Vegas wedding, however, looking on you tube and how uncomfortable some of the blokes look at the singing /dancing I was wobbling a bit...THEN New Years Eve and boy says that he is not sure about Graceland Chapel as we aren't massive Elvis fans-this combined with the expected look of dread on his face when Elvis starts singing is making me think twice! So I have been looking at other locations, I don't want a hotel wedding as think we would feel lost just the two of us-I did see a UK celebrity who eloped with just her boyfriend to the little church of the west and I love the look of the stand alone wooden church, the history, location near the LV sign and the grounds of the church-so I am thinking of swopping locations-thoughts? I have read recent review (whosamsam name I think) and Jimanie (sorry can't remember how to spell forum name!) is getting married here so I think a good romantic choice, I love the look of the wood and the candles inside the church. Would be a bit more but not about the money-I think future husband would be much happier with this one, considering the "marry me" package and adding on the LV sign to the photos and then maybe not bothering with a strip photo tour but just doing it ourselves- will have a chat with boy tonight but don't want him to think I am crazy at swopping venues-need some knotties reassurance! Thanks brides and grooms to be

  • Hey @manchester21, let me know if you have any questions about Little Church! I might be a bit biased, but was really happy with my ceremony. If it's just the two of you I would maybe consider the Tie the Knot or Lucky In Love packages.

The biggest difference between Marry Me and Lucky in Love is the guests being allowed to take pictures and the flowers for the wedding party. But if it's just you and your FI, you obviously wouldn't need those anways.  If you choose to buy the photos from the sessions afterwards, the candid shots would be included in that anyways. The photo packages start at $495, so putting the vouchers towards that would be a pretty good amount off.

I would highly recommend the LV sign photos, my best pictures came from that shoot.

  • Yep I am getting married there, fell in love with the chapel when I saw a friend's photos from their wedding there. I love it because it has so much character and is so different from all of the other chapels on the strip. Seeing Sam's great review (and others on here - do a search if you haven't already) has also reassured me that I'm in good hands!

I definitely think you need to make sure that you're happy with your chapel and ceremony type otherwise it may cause you a lot of anxiety as the big day approaches. Did you pay in full for your existing ceremony booking? Are you eligible for a refund?

  • Thanks both-been spying on your posts and you both see really happy. I have paid a deposit but only $100 so in the scheme of things not too much to lose. I do think that I would go for the candid ceremony photos, the church and ground photos and then the LV sign and bin off having a strip photo tour-I think that would be sufficient photos and we can rely on kind strangers to take photos of us in bars/restaurant as we celebrate our marriage. I think boy would be happier with that, otherwise we would be having photos for 3 hours and feels a bit excessive. I think I was swept away with the "vegas-ness" of an elvis wedding but this church does look very pretty and probably something to look back on with classic photos rather than elvis! I think I'm going to switch.....they have 2pm, 3pm and 5pm available on our date (24th June) and thoughts on best time? Thanks ladies x
  • Great stuff! I wanted 2pm originally, but they didn't have it when I booked (over a year out!), so I went with 3pm - I'm very happy with that now as I have that little extra time earlier in the day for prep. I think Sam's wedding was also at 3pm - it's a popular time!

  • It was at 3 as well! I was really happy with this time. I was still able to sleep in a bit that morning (or least got to lay in bed unable to fall back asleep for longer lol) and had plenty of time to get ready without being rushed. The lighting for the pictures at that time worked out really nicely as well with how the sun was positioned (though obviously June will be different than December was).

I was back in my hotel room by 4:30, so everything really doesn't take that long. Trust me, you'll be tired of taking pictures after the 3 different sessions, I was originally going to try and do a stirp photo tour and was really glad I didn't.

  • great feedback - had a chat with boy tonight and showed him the church and he was much happier with that - he said classic option that we could look back on in 40 years - quite deep I thought!

he has given the go ahead for the strip tour which surprised me - do you think too much? I though $300 add on for the church to do the LV sign was very steep given that Todd Wilson is only $348 for 2 hours and will include the sign? thoughts? Jiimanie - are you doing a photo tour?

I was thinking 3pm - means a lie in, relaxed breakfast together (bet I won't be able to eat though!) bit of pool time then I can start to get ready, he is going to take our corvette hire car out for a drive and meet me at the church, I will get the comp limo so we will see each other for the first time at the church - feels much more like a wedding, getting giddy about it!

    arghhh!!!
  • Hi @manchester21 - yes I am doing a photo tour straight after the ceremony (we are using the Double Decker Bus and taking all our guests with us), our first stop will be the LV sign. We won't be doing many stops for photos, this bus tour is more about having some fun with our guests whilst seeing the sights, we'll probably do the sign, the Bellagio fountains, and the Eiffel tower @ Paris.

So glad you're getting excited about this option now :) I agree that 3pm is best, although my hair & make up artists want to come to my suite at 11.30am so I won't have much time for a lie-in, but will definitely have a leisurely breakfast with FI and some of our guests beforehand!

@whosaidsam - do you know what time you left the chapel? I have been told we'll probably be done with our photos by 3.45pm, so we've booked the bus to arrive at that time. I hope that all goes to plan!

  • @Jiimanie I don't remember exactly what time we actaully left the chapel at, but I would say you'd be good with the 3:45 time. I was back by 430 and that was getting to the sign, taking all the photos plus taking a few of our own there and then geting back to the hotel. The photos they take on site really don't take that much time at all, they're really quick. Did you mention to them that that the bus is picking you up directly after? They should bebale to advise on a good time to book it.

I'll add in that I had HMU start at 11 and I had plenty of time before we had to leave for the chapel

  • Thanks @whosaidsam - it was the chapel who advised that we'd be done by 3.45pm, I'm pretty sure I mentioned the bus when asking that question, but I'll check!

Good to know your HMU started at a similar time, I have one coming for make-up and one for hair and they're doing full hair & make-up on me and my mother, and make-up only for my MOH, I assume that they know their timing and will have plenty of time to do us all! They said they have timed it to be finished an hour before I have to leave :)
