So how is 2014?

DH went to bed at 8:42 on NYE.  I was done by 9:45.  2 and 3 spent the better part of the night screaming.

Yesterday I cleaned.  This is so lame but I also picked out 2's party stuff, 6let's Valentine Day cards, and Mother's Day crafts. I am lame. We ate pork and kraut and today is back to normal.  I need to get out of the house today, but don't know what to do.

Re: So how is 2014?

  • We had a great NYE.  All the bands were great.  We were hungry after the show, but everyone closed at 1am (WTF?)   So, we had to settle for trail mix and crackers that BIL and SIL had.  We had brunch in the morning and headed to my parents.  Mom made an amazeballs spread.  And then when we went to leave my parents, I hit a boulder at the end of their drive (I parked too close to it and when I went to pull out, I didn't see it.  Stupid, stupid.)  We're not sure if we're going to try and get it fixed w/o calling insurance or not.  Blah.

Snowy day today.   I signed up for a bunch of OT between now and next Friday, and I have a long day today.  Good thing, as there are car repairs in my future (grumble, grumble).  It's a perfect day for the beef stew I just put together for dinner tonight.
  • DH and I were in bed by 11 PM.  We are both fighting a crappy headcold - yuck.  Yesterday we had some errands to run but otherwise stayed in.  The highlight of our day was getting a great deal on TP at Target lol.

  • We ended up seeing The Hobbit yesterday instead of Tuesday, and I liked it, but husband was ambivalent about it. He's read the book and all of the extra Tolkein source, so he was butthurt about how the story diverged. I thought that the one elf chick was kinda Mary Sue, so I was glad to hear that she was a created-for-the-movie character, not a Tolkein creation. Husband already said that when it comes out on BluRay, he's making a Tauriel-less cut. I'll be interested to see how that works.

We went to our favorite bookstore yesterday as well and I saw a guy with the most heinous pants ever. They were like... Christmas-themed long underwear being worn as pants. We also found an amazing copy of some Dianetics speeches that LRH gave and laughed hard that some seller on Amazon (by the name 'dianeticsbookstore') was trying to sell the thing we got for $11 for $220. Scientologists, you crazy bitches.

Today is going to be a nightmare because of patient load alone. I think I'm probably going to stumble out of here at like 7 tonight and drive to my favorite Indian restaurant to drown my sorrows in lassi.

  • I fell asleep on the couch by 9:30, the baby was asleep in the rock n play, so DH just grabbed a  blanket and layed down on the floor in the family room because he didn't want to wake us up or leave us alone.  The only reason I saw midnight was because the baby woke up hungry.

I wish I had taken today off.  I was covered in snow by the time I got to work.  I don't feel very good and my entire body hurts (not just the c/s scar, my hips & back too).  I'm taking tomorrow off to try to finish returning Christmas gifts, get a second pump, and then we're dropping the baby off at the ILs so we can go to a party.

  • Ours was good.  The ILs kept the kids (and still have them), we ate a fantastic dinner, rented a movie, and were asleep by 10:30.  That's like our midnight.
  • Baby was still recuperating from her stomach bug, DH was just over the same bug, and the other half of the family was completely laid up with it. My brother and I narrowly escaped, but now I have a runny nose and sore throat. Lame.

NYE we were in bed by 10 with the baby because our neighbors were rocking their damn music and it kept waking her up. They turned it down after we asked, but she was already comfy so I didn't move her. Thankfully she slept in her crib with only one wake up last night because she is kicky.

Today is back to normal, she is at daycare, I am going to clean and hit Costco.

Ali - I forgot about the hip pain.  I had it bad while I was pregnant, and it was a thousand times worse for about 2 months afterwards.  I remember going to the Zoo lights at about 6 weeks post and my hips were so messed up I could
just barely walk.  It felt like one leg was shorter than the other, too.   If you still have pain meds, and since you don't have to drive, I think you should definitely dope yourself up.
  • @auntflo - I bet the mile walk back and forth from work to the train station doesn't help anything, lol.  DH made me switch from my shoulder tote  bag to a backpack because it felt like I threw my back out.  It's a bitch getting old!

I have both vicodin and codein at home!  i can work and drive on vicodin.  Codein, not so much.

  • @alikatt17 - good call on the backpack.  You should thank your DH for making you switch.  And you are in no way old.  Get back with me when you're almost 38.
  • I did thank him!  It's also part of the reason I'm trying to get a 2nd pump, I have to get the weight of my bag down.

I know I'm not old, but my body is feeling like it's 80 lately.

  • I hate to say it, but having kids is for young people.
