Tried on my dress...but now i'm worried!

My dress came in so I went to try it on yesterday.  When they first ordered it I was concerned about the size...based on my measurements they ordered me the same size I wear in everyday clothes.    I thought dresses ran small, but the measurements matched up.   I tried it on and LOVE it, but it definitely feels snug around my butt and hip area.  The back is a corset so the top fit fine and I could breath and walk around fine.  After I left my mom asked me if I sat down in it, which I did not.  Now she has me worried it's too small and I won't be able to sit!    My first fitting isn't until March...what should I do?  Should I be worried?  I've never been a dieter (and not at all overweight so it has never been a concern for me) but should I attempt to lose a couple pounds?   Do dresses usually stretch at all? it's a very form fitting dress.

    This. And every store I've bought BM dresses from has guaranteed their sizing. Meaning as long as I ordered the size they recommended, they would be responsible for making it right if their recommended size was too small.

    Definitely call and make an apt. Just a note- my dress was a trumpet and it was easiest to sit by slightly putting up the dress and sliding on my chair on one hip. It sounds like your dress might be similar?

    I never thought about how it would be to move around in I love the dress, but I don't want to  be uncomfortable!

    Bridal gowns usually have some seam allowances for alterations purposes.  So even if it is a bit snug in the hips, they should be able to let it out a little bit so it fits you without your having to diet.

    If they cant let it out a bit at the hip (which they probably will be able to) you would be surprised what a shaper can do for you under a dress...i'm not saying you need a shaper but they tend to make your body shaped similar to the shape of the dress and therefore the dress fits better. Not sure if this makes sense.

    @crazycatlady3 - good to know!

     

    @mrsderuyter87 - ah makes perfect sense, I hadn't thought of a shaper, but if need be to be able to sit, i'll do what I need.  the lady that helped me try it on didn't seem concerned, but I panicked a little after leaving.

    Your dress is a similar shape to mine, I would try it on again but I can't imagine it would be be too much of an issue. The first step is trying it on again, speculating won't help.
