Wait. When do you send Save the Dates?

Wedding is in October, with a good amount of out-of-state guests.... is February/March about right?

Re: Wait. When do you send Save the Dates?

  • Sounds alright.  I've heard anywhere from 6-12 months out. We sent ours out in October/November for May.

  • Sounds perfect! I would definitely buy your stamps now though if you haven't already, the price is going up on Jan. 26th!

  • That sounds right, we sent around end of Nov/early Dec for a July wedding.
We're expecting a good amount of OOT, so advanced notice was better.
  • I already sent mine a few weeks ago for my wedding in Sept....I'd def get them sooner so if OOT guests only have so many vacation days for the year they have plenty of time to plan.

  • We sent our Nov/Dec for late May, which was pushing it a bit timeline-wise (probably should have gone out a month earlier, but shit happens!)

  • I sent mine in March for our October wedding.
  • Generally it is 6-9 months before the wedding (but not until you have a signed contract with the venue).

You can email/phone VIPs before the official notification is sent out if you need to.

  • I sent my Save the Dates just after this past Thanksgiving for my October 2014 wedding. Every guest (except 2) are OOT and it's a popular resort area so we wanted to err on the side of caution/preparation.
