Wedding Invitations & Paper

Inviting people who helped with DIY

I work in arts administration (gallery management, festival coordination etc). I wanted to make salt dough tags for my favors and they ended up looking like crackers. Of course I posted this on facebook and one of my ceramic artists saw it and offered her kiln and equipment to help me make ceramic ones instead. Do I invite her to the wedding now? I don't know her that well outside of the fact that she participates in the events that I manage. Help!

Re: Inviting people who helped with DIY

  • I don't think you HAVE to invite her, though it could be a nice thank you.

Regardless of whether you invite her, I would definitely send a thank you note and a bottle of wine, gift card, or something else her way.

  • Unless you're close enough that you would have invited her anyway (or at least been on the fence about it), I wouldn't.  She might feel awkward about it if she doesn't feel that close to you, or wouldn't know anyone there, and might feel obligated to get you a(nother) gift.  (I know no one is obligated to get anyone a wedding gift, but if I were invited, I'd still feel like I should.)

Send her a nice thank you card and small gift, consumables or something of the kind, or take her out to lunch or something.
