Mad libs RSVP

Has anyone ever seen or used the mad libs rsvps? I'm completely in some serious like (almost serious love!) with the idea of them!!

Re: Mad libs RSVP

  • Never seen them, and they sound too "cutesy" to be seriously used or taken seriously by guests.

I agree with Jen. I find it very annoying when couples try to be cute with their wedding invitations. They come off cheesy and like they should be invitations for a birthday party or much less formal event. Even if a person's wedding isn't textbook "formal," I am super judgey about invitations/RSVPs b/c I expect the couple to take their wedding seriously, and if the invitations aren't serious, it seems like they don't. I am sure you ARE taking your wedding seriously and that you just want your "fun side" to show, but that's not how it comes across to many of the people receiving them.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I think Mad-Libs are fun, but they don't belong on an invitation. And if I got yours, it would make me feel like I had to sit down by myself and fill it out (no fun) before I could send it back.

If you are attached to the idea, what about doing a mad-lib on the escort cards or having some on the tables instead?

  • DH saw one in the mailroom at work and called me to look at it.  Yeah, we were technically snooping but it was a postcard and we were wedding planning at the time so he wanted me to see it.  We both though it was fun but in our opinion you would have to be a fun/arty type of couple to pull it off.  It was well designed and actually elegant looking in a whimsical kind of way.  I think the quality of the printing and design kept it from looking cheesy.
  • Another vote for not liking them for a wedding invitation/RSVP.  It's one of the most important days of your life.....I feel like it should be worthy of something a bit more formal than madlibs.

Why not incorporate that into your rehearsal dinner somehow?
  • If you guys are generally a fun or jokey couple, and if you're having a really casual wedding, then this is fine. But yeah, I'm also not a fan of cutesy wedding invitations.
  • I don't think I would get it.  I've never heard of this, and might be confused about what I was supposed to do.  I would probably end up tossing the card and writing my own RSVP.

  • I love these myself and plan to use them. I certainly wouldn't describe my wedding as formal or elegant, more bohemian, casual and fun, so it fits IMO. I definitely plan to have a super obvious top line with a "yes" or "no," though.
  • I thought they were cute and funny- the first time I was them, now I feel they and the "with/ sans bells on/ unsure how I feel about bells" rsvps are overdone and unoriginal. Sorry :)
