What color linens with blush dress!?!

I need help please!! I don't have a wedding planner so I don't have a professional to consult on issues. My dress is just a touch of blush (even though the tag says champagne it's really not) and one of my BM brought up a good point! White or ivory linens?? I don't want one or the other to make my dress just look dirty! I want it compliment the dress. I really don't know which to choose. Anyone who had same problem, or has seen either of those color palettes in person, please leave some feedback! Thank you thank you!!!

Re: What color linens with blush dress!?!

  • Maybe light green since red and green are complementary colors?

  • It really depends on what your other wedding colors are. But I wouldn't worry about it too much... you probably won't get any pictures of you holding a tablecloth up next to your dress. Everyone is going to be focused on how happy you are, not whether your dress matches the table.

  • Either one would look fine, if you are worried about your dress looking "dirty" I would probably go with the ivory.

  • Oh boy, this terrifies me.  I haven't purchased yet but I am dead set on a blush dress, and our venue comes with white linens.  It never even occurred to me this would be a problem.

  • What are your wedding colours?  If you didn't want to go with one of those, I would say ivory for linens.

I am wearing a blush dress. We are going with ivory linens (the color is called "vintage ivory", so it's a little deeper than regular ivory ... I guess?)

But no one will notice, I'm sure, what color they are.
  • Also it depends on what your venue includes - some have a whole range, some have white or ivory. If you have a limited selection and your dress is truly blush, white might look better/offer a better contrast.

Our colors were teal, purple, charcoal gray, and black, and since we had a range of colors to choose from and went with black...napkins were teal and varied by table.

MY dress was ivory but I still got white linens. I don't think it was a factor, so no worries

What color are your bridesmaid dresses? Because it needs to compliment that color if you are doing napkins in that color
  • Unless you're planning on wearing the tablecloths, I don't see why this is even remotely an issue. My sister wore a blush dress and to this day I have no recollection of what color the tablecloths were, let alone if they clashed with the dress. Forget about it and get whatever tablecloths you want. It's a non-issue.

    Seriously.
  • FWIW- I'm wearing an antique white dress. I got off white flowers. The table linens are stark white, but will have a champagne gold overlay as I chose gold and white as wedding colors. If this is something that really, really matters to you, is a hill to die on for you, ask the venue if they have any colored overlays in whatever other color you chose? But I agree with pps, no one will be comparing your linens to your dress.
  • Thanks everyone!

My other colors are light gray and eggplant. I know it's not like I'll be wearing or standing next to the linens in pictures but I also was just trying to gauge which color would look best in general because I think I will be incorporating stark white or cream colored flowers in bouquets as well.
  • Something else to consider is that the lighting of the room might be dim if it's an evening wedding. Dim lights means all the whites, beiges, ivories and blush colors will blend. I thought about how my linens would look with my dress, and chose a color called "pecan" to compliment my ivory and gold gown. In the end, I felt silly for even considering it because I sat at my table for a total of 10 minutes, during the speeches only. I came back to take 4 bites of my dinner, and that took 30 seconds. With the blue uplighting, no one knew what color anything was.
  • There are no true stark white flowers unless you are using silk flowers.  All real flowers have a cream look to them.

And honestly, white is white.  You could put a white dress a diamond white dress an off white dress and god knows what other white colored dress next to one another and myself and many others probably couldn't pick the true white one out of the lineup.
