Thoughts on these resorts.... We are honeymooning in July and was wondering Which one is the best? I am researching the grande in st. Lucia. We were going to go to St. John but have been told that AI is the way to go.

Not necessarily.  I've traveled plenty to non-AI areas and found some of those places to be the most enjoyable!  It's fun going out and experiencing the area, different restaurants, etc.  It's all a personal preference.

  • Any amazing recomendations?
  • I have reviews and pics from our 4 trips to Sandals (Grande St. Lucian 2x's, Negril 1x and Grande Antiguan 1x) in the link (our website) above my siggy pic.

AI or non- AI is a personal preference but also,in my research anyway, does work out (for us) to be the best bang for the buck.
  • Agree with pps- it's really a personal preference. That being said, what drew you to St. John? In my mind, St. John and Sandals are nothing alike, though it's comparing a whole island to a resort chain. St. John only has two resorts, with one being quite upscale and intimate, quiet beaches (except Trunk Bay when the cruise ships are in St.  Thomas), and a cute down town area with shopping and restaurants. It's in a way kind of boutique. The Westin is not boutique, but along with Caneel Bay, is more simpe luxury. Sandals properties are large and more geared toward oppulence. since they are AI, you won't be really leaving the property except for arranged excursions. An island like St. John is meant for exploration because of all of the gorgeous beaches and the fact it's mostly national park. So, if you were looking for oppulent luxury, maybe Sandals is the way to go. Also, keep in mind that Sandals properties are NOT the only AIs out there. You may also want to take a look at Couples, Excellence, Iberostar Grand, and Secrets.

  • We went to Royal Bahamian in Nassau. It was fantastic. If we have the money to swing it, we would definitely return. No doubt.
