It doesn't feel like Wednesday

But it is.

The road reports via FB state that they're still crap.  But everyone has to get to work because they've lifted the travel restrictions in the area and life must go on.  I'm just glad DH chose to stay at my sister's last night.  They live about 15 min from his plant on a good day and last night and this morning, it took him an upwards of 45 min to go back and forth.  It took him 2+ hours to get down there from our house.  Between here and my sitter, as long as I went about 20MPH, it was smooth sailing.   And now it's supposed to warm up and rain over the weekend.  It's going to be so gross.

According to Rush Limbaugh, the Polar Vortex is a liberal conspiracy.  His idiocy is fascinating sometimes.

Hope everyone is staying warm and safe.

Re: It doesn't feel like Wednesday

  • The kids are headed back to school this morning.  And DH is back at work.  He'd been off since 8am Saturday.  His company wouldn't let any trucks out Monday or Tuesday.

I'm so ready for a normal routine.  I need it more than the kids do.  I don't get any regular stuff done when DH is here.  We always work on projects.  This weekend it was hang the new tv in the basement living room and rearrange the furniture down there.  I'm really happy with the setup.  We also moved our bed so you can now open the closet doors all the way.  And then I cleaned the closet.

    It still feels like -2.
  • As someone posted here, 27° never felt so warm and balmy!

Our roads are actually pretty decent once it was above freezing yesterday and the salt was activated.  Had a group meeting last night that went well, except for one bad mark.  I'm going to have to talk myself past this member; every leader has naysayers, I just wish she wasn't a b!tch about it.

I had to re-orient myself yesterday that it was Tuesday b/c of not going in on Monday.  Next week is going to feel weird b/c it'll be the first full week of work in almost a month between vacation, holidays, snow days and early days.  That might suck.  :D

Rush Limbaugh also said he was moving to Costa Rica if the ACA passed and was implemented.  People keep offering to help him pack; seems it's a no-go.  ;)
  • School is still out today.  The kiddo is still in bed and that's OK.  I'm enjoying the quiet while I work.

DefConn went to the sitter this morning and he was the first one there.  I hope he got some extra snuggle time with her before everyone else started showing up.  Poor thing is so messed up routine-wise.  He doesn't know up from down.

I feel ya on the routine thing.  Having people home is killing me.  The kiddo needs to go back to school.  He's been stir crazy and driving us all up a wall.
  • I'm down to 18.5 hours in my work week, so I'm just letting it cruise by as best I can, but I am ready for the week to be overrrrr.

It's in the 20s today. Heat wave! It's supposed to be in the 60s this weekend because why not.

Friday, I'm going to my parents' house to do round 2 of trying to learn stick. The first time, there was something wrong with some piece of the Graham (shit had like melted), so I couldn't practice. We're down to like 25 days until we leave for our honeymoon though, so time's kinda of the essence for me to learn this driving ability.

  • This week has seemed long already and it's only Wednesday.  I haven't had a full week or work since before Christmas so working 5 days straight just seems long.  Also, DH has been out on medical leave since Christmas Day.  I like that we get to spend more time together but I'm missing being alone in the house and doing what I want without anyone else around.  He's probably going back to work next Wednesday so that's good.  His leave is due to uncontrolled migraines so when he doesn't have a headache, he feels good.  He went on a preventative last week and it seems to be helping.  Here's hoping we can get these under control and he won't continue to miss so much work.

  • I've been here all week, so I actually have logged more than my typical hours because no way in heck I'm going out in the tundra. And after yesterday's last minute workfest, I am already 1.5 hours up on the week.  Ugh.  BUT, it'll be good come Friday....maybe make an appointment for an eye checkup.

H is saying that his schooling OOT is stupid but he's still enjoying himself spending time with coworkers relaxing.  Ha.  I just hope he comes home in a good mood (which I'm sure he will).
  • This morning was back to normal, but it was like my kids forgot how to do it. We managed to get to preschool, register M2 for next year, return a bunch of things to Kohl's, snag a snow suit and 6 Christmas ornaments for $43, go to Aldi, and get home by 10.

I've never had so many issues with gifts, yet it's all resolved nicely

4 no shows- Amazon and Discover refunded money
A scarf I don't like- Kohl's refunded probably what my sister paid
A helicopter not working- miraculously started working as I was trying to show it didn't
Kohl's shipping taking forever- gave me $25
Shutterfly lost order- replaced within 2 days
Storage unit had 2 broken tubs- Target gave me a $5 gift card that I didn't ask for for the "inconvenience" and the company is sending new tubs.

  • Working the whole time. The dip/water drain area this morning in front of our apartment building was frozen. In FL, that's a big deal, and I was pretty excited.

Yesterday, high of 39. Currently, its 34. We're supposed to hit 70 on Friday. Friggin Florida weather, can never make up its mind...

  • Things are crazy right now for me.   I had to take a vacation day yesterday to deal with weather related carp.  Worst use of a vacation day in the history of the world.  One car frozen shut.  One car with dead battery.  Furnace broke.  Kitchen sink pipes froze.  Internet was down for 1/2 the day. DH came home because his work electric was out.  DD had cabin fever and was very hyperactive.  We were all freezing.  Everything is now fixed except for the frozen pipes.  We shall see what happens with that.
Meanwhile, my mom worked on getting my aunt set up with hospice care and settled in at home. So my dad is watching DD for the rest of the week, which throws off everyone's routine.  I'm going to visit my aunt during my lunch hour today.  I'm pretty bummed about how things are going with her.  :(

  • Scheduled to work tonight, hopefully I won't be on call again. I am home with the baby for now, I will take her to daycare after her morning nap. So I am watching her play and occasionally toddle a few steps.

Last night DH and I talked more about the conversion of our game room to a family room. We are going to sell our bar and get a cabinet that locks for our booze. Store the pool table. Get quotes to repair and refinish our wood floors properly. The flippers did such a horrible job and it is starting to show more and more. Portions that they patched, the patch is chipping out, the stain is wearing out weird and it wasn't sealed well if at all. Research tells us it will be about 2 to 3K. DH's bonus this year should cover it which is awesome.
  • I'm finally back at work today.  I took Friday off for funsies and then was forced to stay home Monday & Tuesday because of the weather.  Nothing like killing 3 days of vacation time right off the bat.

I overslept this morning (baby nor alarm woke me or DH up) and didn't have time to feed DS.  So I had to go an extra 3 hours beyond normal wake-up time before I could pump.  Ouch.
