Stockings and my dress

My wedding is in October....do I have to wear stockings with my dress????

Re: Stockings and my dress

  • You don't have to wear stockings if you don't want to.  For the most part, what you wear under/with your dress is all personal preference, heck even your dress is really personal preference!

Myself, I'll wear a thigh/tummy shaper under my dress to avoid any "chub rub" from my thighs rubbing together and chaffing.

  • If you don't want to, no. I had a November wedding and didn't. Glad I didn't because I was very warm under my ballgown dress, I could only imagine how much hotter it would have been with stockings. Also take into consideration how easy will it be to deal with stockings when you have to go to the bathroom. If you have a big dress, it could be very challenging if not impossible to deal with them.

  • I hate stockings and never wear them. So my vote is no.
  • It would never have occurred to me to wear stockings with a long wedding dress, regardless of the month.
  •  I also vote against the stockings! I would find them uncomfortable, and it's just one more thing to pull off on the wedding night, if ya get what I'm saying! :P I occasionally wear nylons & that kinda thing with regular dresses, but I wouldn't have with my wedding dress for sure! I'm assuming you have a floor length dress, and if so, I wouldn't be concerned with being cold. If anything, I'd think you'll be glad you skipped them!

I've heard going to the restroom is hard enough with a weddingdress...I couldn't imagine adding stockings to the mix. I vote nope.

    Edited-grammar.
  • I was married in October and this never even crossed my mind. It's completely up to you.
  • My wedding was in winter and I didn't wear stockings.
  • I got married in December and didn't.  I prefer no stockings under anything but do wear them occasionally with shorter dresses.
