Who to address the save-the-dates/invitations to

So when addressing save-the-dates and invitations, do you include children? And if you do, is there an age limit/minimum. For example, do you put babies names when addressing?

Re: Who to address the save-the-dates/invitations to

  • If you're inviting children then yes, put them on the invitation.

Those 18 and older get their own STDs / invitations.
  • If you're inviting the whole family, you can put "The Whoever Family" and then list each of them by name on the inner envelope of your invitation.

  • Include names of children. It doesn't happen terribly often, but if you say, "The So-and-So Family" on the save the date or the invitation, sometimes people bring their kids and like ... their own parents, etc.

Children 18 and up get their own invitation or save the date.

  • Of course you put children on the invitations if they are invited. How else would their parent's know to bring them? We addressed our STD as:
    Mr. and Mrs. Joe Guest
    Miss Sally Guest
If there were more than 1 child, we put Mr. and Mrs. Guest and Family- though I know some people frown upon this. It was just easier than writing out 5 names. When we have the invitations we will probably put the formal name on the outer envelope and Joe, Mary, and Sally on the inner envelope.

  • I've seen them as
    Mrs. and Mr. So-and-so
John, Sally, Mary, and Jim So-and-so

  • STDs are a little different in that you don't need to include the children. You can if you'd like, or put "and family". Then you let the invitation specify exactly who is invited. I didn't send STDs to a lot of children, even over 18 ones, because I wasn't sure if they were going to be invited. The invites that will follow will have the exact names, and the over 18 children I did decide to invite will get there own.
