Re: OOC

  • Look at Charming Charlie online or in a store near you if you have one. They tend to have better quality (I mean, it's all still cheap, don't get me wrong) and more variety than Forever 21.

Otherwise, if it doesn't look like cheap costume jewelry, I see nothing wrong with finding inexpensive jewelry to wear.

  • I think you can wear whatever jewelry you want. You don't even need to buy new stuff. I'm wearing all jewelry that I already own. If it looks good with your dress and you like it, that is all that matters.

  • I don't see any problem with it.  I still haven't decided what accessories and jewelry I'm wearing, but I have no intention of spending a lot of money on them.

  • Nope, I don't see it as a problem as long as it's not cheap looking (sorry to anyone who plans on wearing a macaroni necklace). I don't plan on wearing super fancy, expensive jewelry for my wedding - I'm making my own with some pretty Swarovski crystals and pearls.

  • If Kate Middleton can wear a necklace from Zara (or was it H&M?) to a royal event, I think you can do anything!

I LOVE Charming Charlie's! That place is HEAVEN!

I see nothing wrong with wearing inexpensive jewelry. I mean, personally, as much as I love the idea of spending a fortune on sparkly things, sometimes expensive stuff is just UGLY. Expensive =/= attractive.
  • Heck yea that's fine! You don't even need a lot of jewelry- I find brides who load on the bracelets, necklaces, and earrings a bit too much and taking away from the dress. I'm wearing a tiny chain necklace with one pearl at the bottom of it that my father gave to my mother back in the 70's! Nothing else for me :)

I agree! It's all a balancing act. Personally, I want my dress to have a lot of the attention (not that I'm planning on having some elaborate dress, but just the idea that it screams "hey, bride over here!").
  • Wear what you like!!  I think it's silly to spend a lot of money on a necklace/earrings/bracelet that you'll never wear again (or only wear once or twice a year).

My current plan (I don't have my dress yet):  wear my Mickey Mouse Swarovski crystal necklace (Disney wedding) and something sparkly in my hair.  I think I'm going to have a little 'bling' in my bouquet too (just a couple 'hidden Mickey' crystals, like 6-9 of them).  That's it - pretty simple.

  • Try Etsy too!!! There are a lot of designers who have amazing prices. Just check reviews and return policies.

  • My jewelry cost like $20 for the earrings and necklace set. Found it at a cheap jewelry store in the mall.

As long as you think it goes with your dress rock whatever jewelry you find beautiful.

  • My sister had a bracelet on that kept getting stuck to her veil, so she handed it to me.  I immediately got the bracelet stuck to my dress, and then to her veil while I was trying to free my dress.  I think handed said offending bracelet over to my FI (BM) and we all had a good laugh about it.

Moral of the story- don't wear stuff that catches easily.

  • I spent less then $20 on mine for some nice dangle earrings and bracelet at Charming Charlies. Heck it may have even been under $15.00. It looked nice, that is all that matters. There is also nothing wrong with wearing something you already own. Another idea is does your mother or grandmother have something that you've always admired that you could borrow for the day?
  • Heck no! I bought necklace and earring sets from Payless on clearance for $3 each! They were very simple, sparkly dangle earrings. Very tasteful, and did I mention they were only $3??????
  • There's no jewelry requirement at all. No jewelry, cheap jewelry, jewelry you already own ... wear whatever you want!

  • A friend of mine rented her jewelry from www.renttherunway.com

Great way to get designer stuff on the cheap. You just have to return it! :)

  • There's nothing wrong with cheap as long as it looks nice. From a different approach, is there anyone you can borrow from?

I'm borrowing the earrings my sister had made for her wedding (she had a set made and she's wearing the black set she made me for my MOH outfit!) My gramma keeps offering me her pearls. Both want me to wear their jewelry. Otherwise it would probably be Target for me!
