I am so fuming mad right now. I woke up this morning to a call from an 866 number I didn't recognize. I didn't pick it up and they didn't leave a voicemail. Later today, I missed another call from that number, again no VM. A third time today, they called and finally left a VM. It's my electric company PSEG. The message gave me yet another number to call and a "message code" to retrieve the message. I called the damn number and it was an automated voice asking for an account number and then a PIN number, which obviously I don't have.
So I called PSEG's regular customer service line, which had a long wait and I scheduled a call back. On the call back, the lady informs me it was collections calling me. I told her I just paid my account in full last week so I have no idea why they're calling me. Then she tells me it looks like my last payment got returned. And then nothing after that-- she just lets the dead air fill up. Ummm.... why did that happen, and how can I fix it? How about telling me what to do next? [sidebar: I checked my bank account and the payment never came out, so something definitely went wrong.] She tells me I have to call a separate number for collections to fix the situation. So I call the collections number, and the wait is an hour! I choose the option to get a call back... and the system tells me no one is available at that time and hangs up on me. I called back FIVE TIMES and each time, the system said my suggested time (I kept changing it by half an hour to try and find an open slot) is full. Without suggesting another time or giving me an option to just get a call at the next available slot.
Seriously, I am ready to cut a bitch right now. It's like a game of, how hard can we possibly make it for our customers to reach us?
I'm about to go out the door right now to meet Fi and his coworker for a drink, then do some errands. Fi says he'll try them back later when we get home. He's the best. If I called them, I might burst the eardrum of whomever I finally speak to.
"I'm not a rude bitch. I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."
