Reception Idea Help for Small Weddings

Hey guys, just looking for some input.  I'll only be having about 50 or so guests to my wedding, just some family and friends, but receptions in my head always look like dance floor and DJ type parties, which I don't think would work with the demographic mix we're expecting.  What else could I do? I was thinking of renting out a restaurant, but what do you do after dinner?

  • Have you considered having a daytime event? We got married in the morning and had a lunch reception specifically to lessen the expectation of dancing. After lunch, people mingled and visited a bit, and then went home. It was exactly what we wanted, and no worries about "what to do after dinner." If you did do it at a restaurant, I imagine it would probably work the same way. Cut the cake, visit a bit, and people will start to trickle slowly out.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
