Invitations

Morning ladies! I've been looking around for inspiration for invitations over the past few months and I starting to hone in on what I like. I'm the type of person though that needs to really see side by side the paper, design, etc. of the different options. I know that you can order free samples from some websites or pay a small fee to others, but I feel like I might be better going to a brick and mortar invitation business/stationer(?). If you have used a "real" person for invitations who did you use. I'm in the central CT area and would like to stay in that general area. Thanks for any help!

Re: Invitations

  • I totally agree with you about needing the real thing!  Please go see Larry at The Greeting Shoppe in West Hartford.  He has a huge selection, lots of examples and he is super helpful.  Ask his opinion, he's been doing this a long time.  I ended up designing my own and he was right there when I needed his advice.  My invitations were beautiful and the process was actually painless!
  • I used Admire Designs LLC. The woman who owns it is named Adrienne and she's located In Broadbrook, CT. I live in Berlin, which is central as well and it was maybe a 40 min drive but well worth it. She does have a website but it doesn't even show a fraction of her work. She'll meet with you (she's out if her home) and let you browse though thousands of invitations. She completely customizes every single detail for you if you want, which is why I chose her (I'm picky). She also is amazing at choosing proper wording, etc so you don't have to worry about any of that. She has samples of pretty much all the work she's done in the past, as well as samples of all the papers she has available. I highly recommend her!

We used Stacie at By Invitation Only in Wolcott. I didn't trust myself to DIY invitations or save-the-dates. We met Stacie at a bridal show and got a 20% discount off invitations (I think if you just mention the discount, then she'll give it to you) She has a cute shop in the basement of her house. She was so nice and helpful. She always responded to any questions right away and kept me updated as to when everything was supposed to come in. http://www.byinvite.invitations.com/
