Favors for Bridal Tea

I don't see a bridal showers board, so I figured this would be a good place to post this. Thanks in advance for your input.

My mom and I are hosting a bridal tea for my sister in March. It's at this super fancy hotel in town. We have a very short guest list - fewer than 10 people, all over the age of 18. I'm ordering little favors to give to everyone who comes. My friend makes lotion bars in different shapes and has offered to make them for me in the shape of a penis. The lotion bars gradually melt with body heat, so after several uses on the hands/face/wherever, the little penis would get smaller and smaller until it's eventually gone. I know my sister will get a big kick out of this, and it will make the whole atmosphere a little less stuffy.  Each bar comes in a little tin, so it's not like these things will be on full display - only really if people open them and start using them at the table.

My question is what to put on the label. I can call it anything I want. Is Happy Endings too vulgar? Any other suggestions?

Re: Favors for Bridal Tea

  • First of all, that is hilarious.

You could do "Happily Ever After," and people would think it's like a princess thing and then they would open up the tin to find a penis.

i usually think of bachelorette parties as penis occasions, so i would be surprised if i got this at a shower. but you know the crowd. would they be offended?

honestly, if it was me, i would just do chocolate or some other kind of edible favor....because i like to eat junk food. i would probably toss penis lotion right into the trash when i got home. for my taste, its vulgar, but moreso, i just don't want a lotion favor. how do you know what scents i like or what i might be allergic to?
So you'd prefer a chocolate penis? That might work! The guy she's marrying is from Africa.
  • Mmmmm edible penis.

    Wait what?

I like happy endings. Who doesn't want marriage to be happily ever after?
  • I do agree that you need to know your crowd in this situation, but if you know your crowd, then it's funny.

My friends would find it funny as well.

yes i would. in fact, those were the favors at my bachelorette party this past saturday! people thought they were hilarious. i like @dragonblood13 's suggestion of "happily ever after". that's really clever.
  • Honestly, I think this crowd would find the chocolates more vulgar than the lotion. I can't see my mom popping one in her mouth, but I could see her rubbing it on her face and hands.
  • @cruffino, lotion bars are the bomb.com though.

  • Haha! That sounds great!!!
As for what to put on the label, I have no idea but I will think about it for a while.

  • I associate penis favors with bachelorette parties, so this is a "know your crowd" question.  If none of the guests would be surprised or offended, and as you'd said, your sister would get a kick out of it, I'd go ahead with this idea.

Oh, and there's a "pre-wedding parties" board where people sometimes post bridal shower questions.

  • @cruffino How were the chocolates packaged? How many per person?
  • Wait. You can't tag SNs here?
  • No you can.  They just don't hightlight.

they were chocolate lollipops wrapped in cellophane with a bow. my fmil commented that they tasted good, but were small.

i like your idea of having them in a box. my sister had chocolate favors in a box for her engagement party and they were really nice.
  • Hahahaha. I like the lotion bar idea better than the chocolate myself because I'm not a big fan of sweets. I would probably end up giving the chocolate to someone else. This is a know your crowd type thing though.
  • I myself wouldn't be interested in penis-shaped stuff as a favor.

    Chocolate, though....yum.
  • This thread is one big win for the internet!

  • Love the idea for a bachlorette party but I would be mortified if my MIL got something like that. Seeing as you are going for a very classy tea, you need to go with that style of favors. What about special sugars, or honey w/cute labels that people can add to their tea.
  • Her MIL won't be there. It will just be a bunch of her sisters, her 18-yo daughter, her mom, and her aunt. I think it's a receptive crowd.
  • What if you put something to create a joke, like "The key to happiness" or "a girl's best friend". Lol.
  • I wouldn't like it, because I'm allergic to lots of scents/ makeup products. However, with such a small crowd, it might work.

Also, at a shower for my mom, I would not want to see anything remotely related to penises. How comfortable will her daughter be with this?

  • I just thought this said "Flavors for bridal tea" and I was about go to into a big post about how Earl Grey is fantastic and how Teavana is like my favorite store ever. :/

But I tend to think that tea always makes for a fantastic gift because I'm totally biased.

So what did you decide on?
  • OP are you having a bachelorette party? I'd save the penis favors for that if that's the case. "Bridal tea" and penises just don't mesh IMHO.

Maybe lotion or chocolate lips or hearts?
