Found your dress….

Have you found your dress yet? Do you feel like the best part of wedding planning is now over? I do. I'm happy on one hand that it took only seven dresses to find what I loved, but sad now that its over. Funny thing is that I hated all that attention on me. I can give a speech in front of a crowd, but have a crowd ooh and ahh over me, made me leave a store halfway through my first appointment. I am sad now that trying on the beautiful gowns is over. Glad I enjoyed my second and last appointment.

Re: Found your dress….

  • Maybe I'm an anomaly, but I wasn't that crazy about the dress part of wedding planning. I know some brides who went wedding dress shopping before even setting the date (which is fine), but I was all about getting the date set, the site and the band booked. And I consider myself a pretty girly girl, but I just wasn't crazy about the dress. I found mine and it's gorgeous but I was more excited about finding our wedding band! :)
  • I got my dress last February. It's a little disappointing that I got that over with so quickly, but there's still so much more stuff to look forward to. We still have to shop for BM's dresses and I have my shower and bach party to look forward to. I enjoy that stuff because I get to spend time with everyone. I'm also probably crazy, but I'm looking forward to getting a lot of my DIY stuff done. I love making basic materials into something pretty :)

  • I agree with @*elle. -- I wasn't super excited to look for a dress, probably because I was more anxious about whether I'd find anything or not. I was semi-picky in theory, but then I'd look at pictures of all different kinds of dresses and love soooo many -- I had no idea how I'd ever choose!

I went alone my first time out to figure out what I really did and didn't like, and was kinda just quiet and analytical the first time. The second time out, I brought my best friend and mum and found the dress (which was originally my third-fave, and nothing like what I thought I'd get!).

I've honestly been more excited about the flowers than the dress... Haha

  • I was more excited for my garters and hair comb. I got my garters in the mail last night and almost cried they were so beautiful!Bought em off etsy, lots of hand beading
  • @HisMrsJ yes I feel your pain! It only took 2 trips for me and about 20 dresses. I loved them all - I am super indecisive - so I know it's better I chose one, but I want to go try on more pretty dresses and have everyone ooh and ahh!
  • Call me crazy... but I wasn't a huge fan of going dress shopping. I'm not a super girly-girl in that I never wear dresses. I'm also so self-conscious that I felt NOTHING looked good on me. So it took me about 15 dresses until I found it :) And even though I absolutely LOVE my dress... there is still part of me that's happy it's over (I hope that doesn't sound bad!)

And like @tammym1001 I love my DIY things I work on. As soon as I finish something I feel so accomplished... and I just love making things (and I swear I've always thought I had no artsy-ANYTHING in me... but people have told me the centerpieces I'm working on looks so good!)

I'm also reallllly looking forward to my shower. My mom and MOH have told me nothing (aside from the date) just that they have some super fun ideas. And it's probably the selfish part of me... but I haven't had a party for just me since I was like, 11 :)
  • I really looked forward to dress shopping and was kind of disappointed in the whole thing. This is my second engagement and I had purchased a dress for the first one and absolutely loved it - had the entire experience including the crying. This time I didn't get emotional about a single dress. I think the closest was giddy, and thats the dress I went with but I don't think I love it. It is beautiful though and looks amazing on me. and its exactly what I wanted. Just kind of sad that I didn't have the whole rush of emotions that I had before :(
  • Yeah I had my venue picked and date set before dress shopping.  I was excited to go prior, but I had to wait for my mom to come into town.  But she and I spent 3 days shopping, and that is all I'll ever need!!! lol I LOVE my dress, and I'm so happy I have it.  But again, all that attention threw me.  I think the first appointment was great for me, cause it was quieter, it was just me, my mom and the consultant.  At David's Bridal it was a bit more chaotic, but that is where I found my dress.  I was a tiny bit sad to be done, but at the same time, so relieved.  I am a very warm body, and all that dress trying on made me a sweaty mess!!  Like @pumpkinsandturkeys I actually really enjoyed my flower appointment. :)
