Groomsmen Clothing..HELP!!

My fiance has 3 groomsmen. Our wedding is 4/12/14..88 days away! & none of the groomsmen have got their clothing. We are having them wear linen pants & long sleeve button down shirts with a tie. We have given them all the information on the pants & shirt (I will buy the ties) that we want them to have & they keep saying they are going to get the clothing soon but have yet to do so! I'm getting more and more nervous as the day gets closer that they are going to wait too long to get their clothes & something is going to happen to where they can't get it or one of them will get it then the other two won't be able to get the matching outfit. We don't have the extra money to buy 3 sets of clothes & have them pay us back. I know guys like to wait until the last minute for things like this but is there any ideas of how I can get them to get the clothes before it's too late?

Re: Groomsmen Clothing..HELP!!

  • How are the GM related to you? Are they your friends or Fi's friends? Try having Fi talk to them man-to-man.

I can imagine how stressful this is for you. Maybe try to explain this to them (your worries of the items selling out). Perhaps remind them that the sooner they get it the sooner they don't have to think about it.
  • Are you having them buy from like a department store or something? If that's the case, they probably don't see what the big hurry is. Linen pants and a long sleeve shirt are something that honestly they could buy the day before since they aren't going to need altered or anything. Maybe have your FI remind them one more time and then just trust that they will get it taken care of. It will give you one less thing to stress out about :)

  • Where are they buying the clothes from?

If it's just a regular store, I think you need to relax for a bit. They have three months; there's no reason for them to buy them now and have them just hang in the closet for 88 days. I'd ask FI to check in on the situation in a couple months, but leave it alone for now. Just have a little faith in them.

  • They're probably waiting.  A lot of people have a hard time in January because of added bills (paying off Christmas items, taxes, etc) so maybe they're waiting after they're all caught up.

I think if you are letting them buy their own pants, shirts, and everything then you can leave the guys alone.  They are grown men and there is 3 months left until the wedding.  If virtually all the need to do is go buy a pair of black pants and a white button down shirt (or whatever) they have tons of time.
