Intro and a Vegas planning question

Hi ladies,
I'm visiting over from The Bump.

My dude and I have been together for years and were planning a more traditional wedding this spring in our hometown of Philly. As it turns out, I (happily) got pregnant a little faster than expected, so we are now looking to do a quickie ceremony -- he suggested we do so in Vegas just so it's a little more fun than a trip to city hall and we get a babymoon in as well.

I'm looking for any advice on how to do this as quick and cheap as possible while maintaing some modicum of good taste.

If we do Vegas, our plan is to fly out just the two of us, do a VERY simple wedding with minimal cheese (i.e. no singing Elvis as the minister) and then relax for a few days before heading home. We'd be looking at something in late Feb. to March.

Any recommendations or suggestions are welcome.

The options are endless for an eloping couple. What is your budget and what type of ceremony are you looking for? Chapel? Garden? etc. Chapel of the Flowers and Little Church of the West are very well rated. In suite is another option (you can hire the officiant to come to you).

We are getting married at the Flamingo and they have some nice areas in their gardens for small weddings. If I was eloping in Vegas I would do it on the gondola at the Venetian :-)

Thanks ladies! We were actually looking into the gondola option!

Our main requirementis low-key. After13 years, and with a baby on the way, it just seems silly to make a whole thing out of it. But obviously, we want it to be a little special. We don't have our hearts set on any kind of theme or location.

I felt ovewhelmed by the options once I started researching, so I figured I'd tap the local expers to narrow down the options.

I guess my main questions are:

    • What are the pros/cons of just doing something small at one of the Strip casinos?
    • Are there less bbvious/non-touristy options I'm overlooking? (I loved the Valley of Fire, for example. Is it possible to get someone out there to do the ceremony without paying a small fortune?)

There are several "we come to you" type officiants. I can't think of any names but Google Vegas wedding van or Vegas weddings to go or something. Red Rock is a beautiful location and could be very private, you could do it in front of the bellagio fountains, really anywhere you want! They might have good suggestions too.

Check out Scenic Las Vegas Weddings.  They have a facebook page too so you can see some of their pictures.  Some friends of ours used them a while ago for a Valley of the Fire wedding.  I think they said it was under $1,000

    Congratulations!!!!!

I may be biased but the officiant we have booked (Roland August) does Valley of Fire weddings for $250 I think. Getting a limousine to and from plus flowers and photography (assuming you want all of that) would probably be around that $1000 ktbabe530 mentioned.

I was about to recommend Rev Roland too, http://www.themobileminister.com  He married my wife and I in Mix restaurant at Mandalay.  He'll pretty much go anywhere whether formal or, one I saw on his facebook recently, marrying a couple in mid-air on a trapeze.  Might even want to email him and ask for some ideas of places that would fit what you're looking for since he's probably married people just about anywhere in and around Vegas and would know some options we don't.

You people are AWESOME with the info! Thank you so much. I've got some research to do.

If we could get this done for $1k I would be over the moon with happiness. We have the budget for more, but with a little one on the way, we'd like to cut expenses where we can.

    Thanks again, everyone!

It's a little off the beaten track, but if you're still thinking Valley of Fire, check out Cactus & Lace weddings: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cactus-Lace-Weddings/

They're launching this month & specialize in all inclusive stylized weddings in the Valley of Fire area.

I know about it from my photographer, Rachel at Brilliant Imagery (http://www.brilliantimagery.net/), who lives out in Logandale. We did a Trash the Dress shoot out that way and it was incredible ... she knew ALL the best sites.

I have no idea what their cost is, but since they're just getting off the ground, you could get some really great services for potentially a very affordable price.
