Does this sound okay?

We don't really need a whole lot, so I am having a hard time with my registry.  I've started at registry at bed, bath and beyond for some kitchen items and basics that I could use (baking ware, some random kitchen item's I don't have yet). There are about 30 items on that registry, ranging from $15-$150.  I also started a registry at crate and barrel, with very few items on it - dishes and some other serving ware that matches the dishes.     Two items I want to register for are towels and sheets..because I  figure I could always use more of those.  Would it be okay to register for just those at Kohls ?  There really isn't much more I can find that I need, but I like their towels and sheets better than BBB.

Our wedding won't be huge - inviting about 75 and there will be maybe 30 people or so at my shower.

  • Kohls registries are glitchy,

I would probably leave it as-is and use any cash you receive for the towels and sheets.

  • It wouldn't be wrong to register for sheets and towels at kohls, but it might just be better to keep your registries as is and use cash like pp said.

  • I would add sheets and towels to your Bed Bath & Beyond registry (or even Crate & Barrel if you like theirs better) but I would avoid a Kohl's registry due to glitchiness, especially if those are the only things on it.

Are you having a shower?  If yes and depending on the number of people invited you probably want to do the Kohl's registry so you have more options for shower guests.

If not you probably still want to create the Kohl's registry.  You can keep it on the DL if you want, possibly hiding it from view on the Internet so no one will be able find it unless they hear about it via word of mouth.  Or if anyone asks you can say something like "we'll probably do some shopping at Kohl's for the house after the wedding" and you might get some gift cards for the towels.  When people asked us where we were registered we told them we didn't really have a registry because we were focused on home improvements.  Sure enough those people either gave cash or Home Depot gift cards.

ETA: I just read you will have 30 people at your shower.  You should do the Kohl's registry.  I'm not sure what the glitches mentioned are.  If you have problems with it you might want to shut it down after the shower.

  • thanks everyone!

what type of Kohl's glitches are you all aware of?   I think ill take a look at BBB again, to see ifi can pick some sheets and towels out there.

  • @jenni1221, their inventory turns over frequently and lots of reports of items not being marked complete when someone buys from the registry.  There was a thread about it recently I believe...

Hmmm, I guess that is why the one bride I know ended up getting 6 sets of wine glasses and 3 food processors when she only registered for 2 and 1.

good to know!  I think I'll skip Kohls!  not worth any aggrevation for towels and sheets that i really dont even need right now!
  • Can you add your towels and sheet to your BBB registry? I think they have a pretty big selection.

You are having 75 people at your wedding and 30 at your shower? Is everyone invited to your shower also invited to the wedding?

  • @katwag, yes i think i will just add them at BBB. It's not something i need right now, but i hate registries that have limited items on them when I go to showers, so i just wanted to have enough stuff.

Numbers are rounded.  I have clost to 100 being invited to the wedding, but I know they will not all actually come.     For the shower maybe 25-30 being invited.

  • OP, if you don't need a lot, you don't need to have a large registry.

However - if you have a shower, you should have enough on your registry in varying price points that people can shop for your shower.  It sounds like you do - and adding some sheets and towels (if you have the storage space, you almost can never have too many white sheet sets and towels!) will give a little more variety.

After your shower, you can figure out if you should add more to your registry before the wedding.  FI and I love going to BB&B and scan more little upgrades to what we have now. :)
  • @vt&dt - thanks! that is my concern, just having enough and of a variety since I know there is a shower being thrown for me.   I've done my whole registry online, and hard to pick out sheets/towel's without going and looking, so I'll just make a trip there to take a look!   We've had our own home together for a couple years, so I'm pretty much set with necessities, but I figure stuff like towels/sheets are always needed, so I can store them away until I'm ready to replace what I have now.
