Wedding Invitations & Paper

Heads up on postage

Hey guys, just a heads up. I just found out postage is increasing in price starting January 26. It's not much, but why pay almost a dollar more per package of stamps when you can buy them cheaper now.

Currently a forever stamp is $0.46 and will go up to $0.49 starting January 26th. So buy ahead for your invites!

Re: Heads up on postage

  • Remember, you'll need them for RSVP cards, thank you cards for showers/parties, thank you cards for wedding.

I just bulked up yesterday. Some post offices do not have the wedding forever stamps either... so just a warning on that. Between two post offices I was able to get all the ones I wanted.

  • Good thinking! I completely forgot about the RSVP and thank you cards.
  • Speaking of RSVP cards do I supply the postage for those?
  • My gut instinct is yes. If you want people to actually use the cards you paid money for, I would make it as simple as possible for them to return them to you.
  • Good to know thanks Uklaw88
  • There is a totally awesome "CELEBRATE" forever stamp. It's what I used and extras are good for just about everything - celebrate your bday, celebrate Christmas, celebrate your new job…except maybe bills, bc who celebrates paying a bill :-p

  • Careful, a lot of invites are too heavy for the Forever stamps!

  • I was wondering if anyone has ever successfully mailed an invite plus rsvp card/envelope for the price of a forever stamp?  I'm tempted to buy more stamps but i'm afraid they won't work for my invite and then i'll have a ton of extra stamps, although I guess I could use them for other things even if they are "wedding".

Side note- It took three different post offices before we were able to get the wedding forever stamps, the other ones didn't have them!

  • I mailed mine with a forever stamp. No inner envelope, one 5x7 flat card invite and a postcard for the response card.

  • We bought about 300 forever stamps in November, to use for the STD's, wedding rsvp envelopes and thank yous we send out.  Unfortunately since we don't have our invitations yet we will have to deal with the postage for that when it all comes in.

  • Hm, I'm surprised everyone is having trouble with finding wedding stamps. I went to the post office yesterday and had my pick of three different kinds.

As I had not thought that our invitations might be heavier than the forever stamp allotment, I'm glad I only bought enough stamps for save-the-dates, RSVPs, and thank you cards. I'm sure I'll need more, but we haven't picked our invitations yet.
  • Buy the stamps at USPS.com

  • I bought the Valentine's Day forever stamp (looks like a red heart wax seal..I love it!) online for our Save the Dates.  I went to FOUR post offices before giving up.  Honestly, I hated having to wait (and pay shipping) for the post office to deliver me stamps...
  • I bought mine online! They are the cute white rose ones. Also have you guys ever mailed a 6x9 inch Card? My invites are that size and I am wondering how much postage to put on them. Any ideas?
