I'm DIYing a lot of stuff for our wedding, including all of the "florals". We realized that with an outdoor July wedding in a garden, there wasn't much of a need for us to spend precious budget dollars on flowers that may or may not stand up to the possible heat and humidity we'll likely have (Anyone in NY/NJ remember how stiflingly hot the last two July 4ths have been? Yuck!). I found a cute idea from Martha Stewart to make flowers out of coffee filters and ran with it. For the centerpieces, I'm making the "flowers" and putting them in 15 oz cans that I'll decorate with white paper and ribbon. I mocked a few out and doing one can felt kind of... lonely. Then I thought maybe putting 3 per table so it would look more evened out, but I don't know if that's too much centerpiece for the table. The venue has 60" round tables. Each can of "flowers is about 9.5" across and when set up with 3 cans measures about 18" across. Does that seem like it would take up too much space? I've been to weddings with enormous centerpieces where you barely had room for your plate on the table. I don't want that, but I also don't want the whole lonely little centerpiece feel either. What do you ladies think? (For perspective, the table in the pictures is 42".)
