Palms Penthouse In-Suite legit?

I have started looking into a Vegas wedding because the originally planned home town celebrations have gotten way too large and expensive. We have the wonderful "problem" of having too many people who want to come. We are looking into an in-suite Vegas reception to cut costs and the guest list (we are estimating about 50-75 people in attendance) but are finding that most hotels require in house catering and alcohol which is adding up to be just as much money with a fraction of the guests. I have been contacted by 33 Group for a privately owned penthouse in the Palms. Has anyone had any experience working with this group? I cannot find any ratings online and am hesitant to throw even more money away on sketchy business.

Many of the units in Palms Place are privately owned and then rented out.  I haven't heard of that company but it's not entirely unusual.

You may want to look into the Stardust Suite at the Orleans.  It does require their catering but you'd probably come out at less than $6k to $7k; plus it had an adjoining suite to actually sleep in so you're not trying to move beer bottles off the bed on the first night being married. :-)

  • I am interested in renting a privately owned suite at The Palms to have both the ceremony and in suite reception. I don't see any reviews on The Palms. I will have about 20 guest and I wanted to do the ceremony on the balcony. Is there an issue to bring in outside catering and is it hard to get guest up to the room???
  • The Palms Place lobby is small and the elevators require passing very close to the check-in desk.  So... if there are policies against vendors coming in, it would be hard to sneak them into Palms Place.  I'm not sure if they'd have an issue or not, just wanted to mention the above in case they do have a policy against it and you were considering bringing people in anyway.  It's not like a typical Vegas resort lobby where no one has any idea who's doing what.

  • Thank you for the information. If I rent a condo through a private ower - is there still an issue with bringing in guest, food, alcohol, etc.?

That's going to depend on the policies of Palms Place, and of course the owner who will probably make you sign a rental contract.  I personally don't know if Palms Place has any rules against hosting events in privately owned condos, capacity limits, etc. so you'll probably need to contact them to ask about that.  If they do, I think it would be difficult to sneak it past them due to the lobby and elevator configuration.  If they don't, then it would be a great option; I've stayed in a corner balcony unit that a friend owns a few times and they're really nice.

If you're looking to do an in-suite without any hassle, check out the Vista Suite at Mandalay Bay. We had 43 people (including us), and everyone was comfortable. We ordered from Masterpiece Cuisine, as they have a lot of experience catering there. Then, we got alcohol from Albertson's and just carted it upstairs in a huge cooler. We filled the bathtub with ice and put the beer, wine, and mixers (like OJ) in there, and then we set the liquor on the bar.

Oops. I should mention that it seats around 35 people, so we did rent some extra high-boy tables and chairs from RSVP Party Rentals. It was so inexpensive that we tossed in some uplighting too, which made it look more like a lounge than a hotel room. :)
  • Hi - i you are uncomfortable you can also try www.vrbo,com they rent suites at The Palms too.
