Save the Date Questions

We're gearing up to send our save the dates, and it has our names, the date and our wedding website listed on it. We were thinking of including a printout which the hotel gave us listing how to reserve a room, along with the discounted room rates which have been blocked out for our guests. Would this be considered poor form? Should I just put that information on the wedding website?

And is it necessary to include something in the envelope saying "formal invitations to follow," or will it be understood that we will be sending formal invitations? By the time they're sent, it will be about 8 months out from the wedding.

Thanks!

Re: Save the Date Questions

  • I'd put the information on your website, but include the printout in your invitations rather than the STDs.

And no, I wouldn't put any kind of "formal invitations to follow" in an STD.  It should be understood that invitations will follow later, about 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding.

  • Most STD's that I've seen/received have had "formal invitation to follow" in small print in the bottom corner. We put that on our STD's and still had some older family members confused as to whether or not that was the actual invitation.

  • I think putting "formal invite to follow" is fine. Even though STDs are becoming more of the norm some people still don't understand them and may think that they are the invite. As for the other info put it on your website and then make an accommodations card insert for your invite.
