Wedding Invitations & Paper

Printing costs- what is reasonable?

I just got a quote from a local printer. It's a national company, but better quality than kinkos. The price is $325 for 125 5x7 two color, single-sided invitations, 3x5 RSVP cards and a 3X5 Guest Info card (which I think I should change to a 4X5 so it sticks out above the RSVP card). It also includes return address printing on both the main and RSVP envelopes and paper- a satin white cardstock invitation and standard white envelope.

Does this sound reasonable to everyone?  It ends up being $2.60 per invitation.

Re: Printing costs- what is reasonable?

  • That sounds extremely reasonable to me.  I have not heard less than that with all those inclusions unless it involves DIY.  You may want to ask for paper samples first so you know you are happy with the quality of the cardstock you are using.
  • For everything you are getting it sounds like a good price, especially when you say "better quality." I second the suggestion of requesting a sample to be sure. GL! :)

  • Thanks, I'll definitely be looking at the paper and a print proof before giving them the thumbs up for the whole run.

  • I got mine printed at smartpress.com, I did 55 invites and 55 RSVP postcards for ~$75 total.  But I'm cheap, and $300 is a third of my paycheck!!

We just got ours back from the printer.  Our total bill was $300.26 for:
    100 ceremony invitations
    100 RSVP cards
    100 thank you cards
100 rehearsal dinner invitations (we only did those with this run because we needed to fill out the sheet)

Each piece was trimmed to appropriate size.

ETA:  Check with your local print companies.  You might be shocked how reasonable they are.

    RSVP-ed and then cancelled after
realizing that it wasn't a great time
    to travel to our city....)
