Do I wear my engagement ring during the ceremony?

We bought a wedding set, so it's only my engagement ring (the one with the diamond) and a simple band. We aren't doing another diamond ring for the 'wedding' ring, I just don't see the need for it. My question is

Do I wear the diamond during the ceremony and have him put the band on me?

They have to be welded together, because they scratch each other if I wear them together, so I don't want to wear them together unless they're fused.

So do we have the rings fused a week or so before the wedding and I give him the rings to give to me that day? Or make a special trip months later to have the rings fused? (We live in the country, and have to drive two hours to where we bought the ring at Shane Co)

I don't know if it's ok to wear the diamond ring during the ceremony. Or if it will look weird that he's just putting my ring back on me with the band.

I'm not sure what to do.

It's very much your decision. My engagement ring and wedding band are separate and not soldered together, so I wore my engagement ring on my right hand, then DH put my wedding band on during the ceremony on my bare left hand, and I moved the engagement ring from my right hand to my left hand, on top of my wedding band, during the ceremony while no one was looking.

Other brides who have had their rings soldered together have had their DHs just use the soldered ring during the ceremony, so they don't wear an e-ring, and the ring used during the ceremony is the e-ring and wedding band together.

You can wear your engagement ring during the ceremony-you just switch it to your other hand, or another finger on the hand you wear your wedding ring on.

I was wondering the same thing! I think that's what I'll do - wear my engagement ring on my right hand and move it over after the ceremony.

I have to have my band sized and my e-ring re-plated just prior to the wedding so I'm having them soldered together at the same time. That way I don't have to be without them after the wedding. So yes, we will be putting my e-ring and band on my finger at the ceremony.

I wore my e-ring on my left ring finger. H slipped the wedding band on top. After we recessed I quickly took the rings off and flipped them around. Boom, done.

I don't think it matters. It didn't even cross my mind to think about what to do with the rings. So I wore my engagement ring, like normal, and H just slipped the band on top.

My little sister had both her engagement ring and wedding band on the pillow and her H put them both on her hand at the same time.

I'm sure there's an answer to this because everyone seems to do it, but why flip the rings? Why not just wear your engagement ring on your left finger and then add the wedding ring on top and leave it that way?

Because most people think your wedding ring should go on first so that it is closer to your heart. Or at least that's what everyone has told me.

This is what I did. It really doesn't matter. But, what @speedyblazer11 said is the main reason why. I've also heard that the engagement ring is supposed to protect the wedding band because the engagement represents the promise but the band represents the actual marriage so it's more important. Or something like that anyway, I don't remember exactly.

My wedding band is a half-size smaller than my engagement ring, which is too big even after being resized. So I still am wearing my wedding band "wrong" on the outside of my finger to keep the engagement ring from sliding around so much. (BTW: I do not recommend Fred Meyer jewelers for getting rings resized!)
