Help finding an artistic photographer for under 2k (preferably under 1.5k)

Hi guys,

I know this is a low budget for a photographer but we are already close to our maximum budget and this is about all we can do.

We are hoping to find something with a creative eye and talent. They don't have to be super fancy or even super experienced. Just someone who knows a good quality photos, who has a non-cheesy creative eye.

Unfortunately, I don't think I have enough time to start looking at students at local photography schools- hoping you guys have some recommendations.

Thanks so much!!!

  • we used john loconte and his website says that he has 8 hour packages that start at 1,500. cannot recommend him enough! amazing

  • My photographers, Portrait New England, are within your budget and they cover all of New England for free- so you don't have to worry about extra travel fees. They have been awesome to work with too. They have great reviews on these boards (which is how I found them) and elsewhere.
    Check them out at www.portraitnewengland.com
  • Check out Iris Leaf Photography. I am using them. I get 2 photographers for 5 hours for less than $1,000.00. Packages are on the website.

  • We used 71 West Photography out of Woburn. Our package was around $1500 and came out great... nothing cheesy :) They were really great (and easy) to work with too! You definitely have options with that budget!
  • We used Berryphotos and I think they're base package is close to that.  They're fantastic and offer a TON in their packages.  I'd definitley suggest going with a reputable place though.  You don't want to have to chace down some irresponsible college kid or get bad pictures just to save $500.  My sister-in-law did that and it took her 17 months and a lawyer to even see her pictures which weren't that great.

Berryphotos was absolutely wonderful to work with and we own every gorgeous pictures on disc.  Their website is www.berryphotos.com

  • I would highly recommend Tara Renaud Photography! Tara is amazing and definately has an artistic/photo journalisic style that you seem to be looking for. We booked her for our September wedding and couldn't be more excited to work with her.  Here is a link to her website http://www.freshfacephotos.com/

  • We are going with Jessica Doherty.

Her prices online are listed just under 2000 for a basic package but she is willing to work with you on pricing.  We are doing a cash option which is getting us a pretty good discount!
  • We went with Heather Parker.

I am not sure what her current prices are but it is worth looking into. I know she was in the knot's magazine last year for one of those farm weddings and is regularly on style me pretty.
  • I emailed Heather Parker in September and her rates start at $4500.  Not cheap.

That's who we are going with...two photographers for the price of one, basically, and the work is amazing. We are paying under 2,000. You can customize your options.

  • ladyandmisterphoto.com They can work within your budget!
  • Check out www.nancystronach.com or her blog www.nancystronach.blogspot.com you will be blown away and she is in that price range!
  • Check out Dodge Imagery... they are definitely within your budget and they are a couple who work together. She is very traditional in her style of shooting while he is more artisitic. I am not using them but have referred a few couples who love their work. Hope this helps!!

  • Most of my friends used Lauren Noyes (http://www.laurennoyes.com/) and they were all pleased with the pictures.  She's also very personable and good to work with.

As of a few years ago her rates were very reasonable as she was starting out, but I don't know if the cost has changed since then.
  • We are using Darry Madden. She is newer to wedding photographer but has many years of photography experience and we loved her work. I felt so good about her after we met with her. She asked all the right questions and the work I've seen that she's done has been great. She should be in the price range you're looking for too. Good luck in your search!
