When you cut your engagment/wedding cake.. do you have ur family come up and feed you and you feed them...

I'm annoyed cuz usually its just the bride and groom feed each other and done.. i dont get why the whole family needs to be up there and bs.. tis not happy birthday time or anything.. so annoyed

    i totally get u, i told my fiance that i want to go off to the side and cut my wedding cake .... so that way it will just be him myself and the photographer , ... i'll will feel like a 10 yr old bday party if i do it otherside .... i would be pissed as well becuz my future MIL like to be ivolved and she will want him to do that feeding stuff as well .... and that i feel will take away from our experience ......

    At the reception, it was just us. Although I have seen wedding pictures where it seems like the whole family is up there, I don't get it. I understand that a wedding also brings two families together, but that doesn't need to happen at the cake cutting...

    We did it just us for the engagement and will be doing the same for the wedding. I can kind of see where the family thinks it's ok to do everyone, but honestly it's just weird for something like this. Hope you figure it out!

    COMPLETELY agree!  No need for the entire family to feed cake...

    I FOUGHT for this at my wedding :D (SIL and BIL who were helping/taking over planning of recpetion wanted the whole familia up there - I stood my ground)

    Okay... I've never seen that... and honestly I would find it weird.  I have seen the bride cut several slices and hand them herself (on plates) to her parents and new ILs (American weddings).  However, with a larger wedding that becomes a time drain.

    Now I'm just glad they don't traditionally have a wedding cake in India... my ILs are the ones who would insist on being up there!

    ok so my engagement was this past weekend and it was wierd.. his parents stood up so i obviously called my parents up there and his parents fed him and me cake, and my parents did too.. really akward and weird and we were blocking half the ppls view so its not like they saw much of it... wedding is on my turf so my terms so NO way never again but thats what they wanted to do

    GL on getting it sorted before the wedding!  Does your FI know what you want?  It seems like he should be reigning in his parents and not leaving it to you.

    I just put my foot down and im like u can do what u want for the engagement but wedding this will not fly... he does but its hard on him cuz some ppl are just stuborn and we try to pick and chose our battles with both our families.
