Looking for a cheap videographer

Anyone ever hired a college film student who is just starting out? I'm not looking to spend $1,000+ on a wedding video, but just want something that captures the moments I may forget..I don't need a wedding video that will turn out looking like a music video or movie trailer..something really really simple... please let me know if you know anyone who does cheap videos in the NJ area ( spring lake, nj).

Thank you-
LC

Re: Looking for a cheap videographer

  • We are using John Jae Videography.  We felt the same way we wanted just the basics in videography not all the bells and whistlers and he was able to meet us right where we needed to be.  The prices are so reasonable we were even able to get better than the basic package.
  • We are using Martin's video, pretty inexpensive, we are staying under$1000 and that isn't even their most basic package. Video isn't a priority to us though, but we did  want video.  The wedding hasn' happened yet so I can't comment on the quality.  They did send me samples they did actually in our church and our venue and it looked good to us.

    Anniversary

  • You should check out Elssol Production. They have a basic package under 1,000...
  • I just booked with Alex Kaplan. His work is great and he seems like he'll be fun to work with because he has a very easy going personality and comes across as a true proffessional. He does charge more than 1k for videography but altogether (photography & videography) he cost less than what most people just pay for photography. My soon to be sister in law paid 3,000 just for her photographer and album, my other friend just paid 3,500 for the same. I'm paying 3,400 for 7 hours of video, 2 photographers, cd with every picture taken, edited dvd, our album, 2 parent albums and 100 thank you cards.
  • Thanks everyone for the feedback!

  • Thank you so much for posting this and the suggestions.

I was in the same situation, not wanting to spend over $1k on video but still wanting to remember the day and not needing all the crazy editing. All the advice I got was to find a student, but I was worried about working with someone who didn't have a lot of experience or wasn't "a professional". I will def be checking these out!
  • I do know a great young shooter who freelances and is interested in some extra jobs. When are you getting married? If you are still interested, I can give you his name and number. Let me know.

I know someone who charges well under $1,000 who does beautiful work. You can find her on YouTube & Facebook - katieography. If you reach out to her, please tell her Jess Rajs recommended her

  • I'm doing simple edits on a basic raw footage for $600 with Colorblind Productions.
